I got a call from my buddy, he has an engineer from dar es salaam who invited him to come over to hunt .
can a nonresident even try that ? The engineer has a family friend that is a PH that would setup the Location and camp where locals can hunt , and arrange the local government observer.
imo it seems like a nice gesture, but a major calamity if something goes awry ( fed government, district, village)
please fill me in , Tanzania looks like a expensive nightmare with no safety net of a safari company

Former President Magafuli stopped resident hunting licenses five to eight years ago, unless something has changed recently. The open areas where residents hunted were pretty much shot out and animals would run as soon as they saw or heard a vehicle. Residents can pay for a regular license and hunt like foreigners.

The engineer may be able to get you a good deal however. Especially on end of season hunts where quota is still available. At the end of season, most concessions will be receiving rain and travel can become difficult or impossible. If you want trophies sent home, you may want to clarify how that would work and if the Outfitter will get that done for you. I'm pretty sure you will have to deal with an outfitter and not just a ph, and hunt in a concession that the outfitter has paid for.

Thanks for sharing this information, I got a call from my buddy today about meeting the
engineer and setting up the logistics, and had my serious doubts about making it happen, thank you for sharing and saving me some time & money. ( should have checked this thread before today)

I have a friend I work with is from Tanzania. He has invited me to go over there with him for hunting. His whole family live there. I am trying to find out how it could be done. His brother hunts there all the time who lives there. He is not a ph. He is a Native of Tanzania.

Hi Jay,

Hope you're well.

I'm headed your way in January.

Attending SHOT Show has been a long time bucket list item for me.

Finally made it happen and I'm headed to Vegas.

I know you're some distance from Vegas - but would be keen to catch up if it works out.

Have a good one.
