I found the taxidermist (Ubombo Taxidermy, KZN) through the KZN Hunting Association and after seeing his work I was satisfied he would be able to do the trophies I wanted in the quality manner I would expect.

The communication, thus far, has been so far beyond what I have experienced with others (here or in Africa) that I just had to share this.

How many of you get pictures of your mounts in progress? Just to make sure that they are being mounted properly. (pose etc)

I feel like I am getting a play by play and being kept in the loop.

Very good communications and a play by play, you sure you are dealing with a taxidermist? Sounds more like a gunsmith;)

Really though that is a cool feature/lead others should follow.

Just kidding about the taxidermist and gunsmith thing, so far I have had pretty good luck with both.

When you think about it is is like a Gunsmith doing some custom work.
If he takes his job that seriously I am more than happy to accept that level of service.

It is a good idea for the industry and hunters to take note.

Johannes assisted me with the dip and packing of my trophies for shipping back to the US. I should be receiving them within the next couple of weeks so my taxidermist can get started on them. I have spoken with a few people who have used him and they are very pleased with his work. Keep us posted on how they turn out.

I think a LOT of taxidermists could learn from the professionalism and business savvy this guy has. That is the number 1 complaint I get from guys about taxidermists in Africa....communication is lacking or non-existent. An email once every 6-8 weeks with an update and some pictures would sure go a Loooong way to customer satisfaction.

+1
I am having some taxidermy work done now in SA. I would have loved a feature like that. Not that they where hard to communicate with. They have been prompt to respond to all my emails, but the pics and progress would be great!

You have to love the service.
My buddies are getting the same treatment with their trophies.

The latest instalment:

(No idea why the pictures are appearing here on their sides)

Looks like nice work to me. You are right, very few NA taxis communicate that well. In fact the only ones that I know of that do are The artistry ow wildlife and Animal Artistry, both places charge double the average rate. That would certainly help prevent any miscommunication on pose and prove that they are actually doing something.

Im glad your trophies look to be in good hands.

I sent this pic to a buddy the other day, he was extatic to see his ram and cant wait for it to dry.

Can't see your attachment.

I am more than pleased at this point.

That is good!!!! What I do is as a service to my clients is to physically go to the Taxidermist to take or have him mail me pictures which I inturn forward to my clients I try to stay as involved as is humanly possible. Simply because not all taxidermists have this service.

After all it is mostly by reccomendation that a client has trophies mounted in the country he hunted in, and everything reflects on you as an outfitter in the end of the day.

My very best always.

The picture is not loading for me either, please try posting it again or email it to me so that I can fix the issue... thanks.

Bart starts talking about Kudu forms and look what I get in the email.

Yet again, another report of the progress on my mounts and another picture for confirmation.

Finally!
I like everything in that picture.
(Mule Deer, White tail, Pronghorn and Elk. That Moose is not bad either.)

Nice Sheep, Where is his brother hiding?
I'll give you some more work August 31!! :)

He-s from the West Castle river, of course you will really have to work for him though. Robs ram was one of only 2 taken last year in that zone and he got him on the afternoon of Oct 31!

Thanks for the compliments, the whitetail is my 170 1/8" buck I hunted for 3 years. The Mulie is my 209 5/8" buck that the locals called "the king". Both were older than sin and quite regressed from what they once had been, great trophies that I am quite proud of. The Pronghorn is my 16 1/2" NM buck and the elk is my 1st 6x6 bull from way back in the day. The Moose is Christines bull.

BTW, what is happening on Aug 31st?

End of opening week (Sheep) up north! :)

LOL thats what I figured. Definitely some high hopes there, what zone are you planning to hunt? I have always preferred late sept/oct after all the crowds have cleared out and the sheep are getting back to business as usual.

Do you have any cull hunts available? 7 days, daily rate plus per animal price?
