The create has finally arrived from Hunters and Collectors in Port Elizabeth South Africa! I am in the process of selling our house, so the rules do not permit all of these items to be displayed(n) But here are a couple more I pulled out:

Kudu bag for my wife (I am very impressed by this item):

Son's blue wildebeest:

We placed it on a small hook for purposes of this photo...I think he was a little concerned:LOL:

Blue wildebeest rug:

I am leaving the rest packed until we move, it could be a while. So far my only disappointment is my cartridge belt....it was made for a man of much less substance, shall we say:( So, perhaps my skinny youngest son will make use of it. Here are some pictures that Kevin sent to me before they shipped:

Thank you. Definately excited to see a what has been made. But, I would describe my emotions as being more like reminiscent - like thinking of times with friends who you wonder where they are now. I remember the animal in the field, the stalk, the entire experience comes back as a dream. It certainly makes me want to be back there! I am actually surprised at my feelings.

I pulled this out. It was an "impulse" purchase. It is made from my gemsbok tail. I am actually really glad I got it. It will be a great addition to the study.

Very nice!

It is why we take home these mementoes - these trophies of the hunt. A year or two after your visit most of the mature animals you saw will be gone. But these will live on as long as you are capable of recalling the experience. There is a bit of immortality for both you and they in that ability. You will remember friends, the incredible expressions on your son's face, the game, all of it as you and they were then. That is something the precious urbanites living in their digitized disposable worlds can not even understand. Most of these millennials will reach old age without even any photographs of their lives. None are printed anymore, and the digital images have a way of vanishing with lost phones and crashed computers. I often sit across the way with a good glass of wine or single malt and simply relive any number of wonderful days in the field. Even the little roe deer antlers on their German plaques bring back the specific hunt and hour of the day - the hand shake of an old German Jaeger who has been gone for two decades - cold schnapps celebrating a wondrous day afield. All those bucks were taken in the late seventies, and yet, they and those who accompanied the hunt live on today. Just last evening I was back in Namibia, creeping side-by-side with Nick, as we again followed up my leopard. Congratulations on having them safely home. The best advice I can give is to capture many more while you can.

Well said, Red Leg.

Pheroze, congrats on getting the crate, some great memories and items there. I have a buff arriving in a couple of weeks, can't wait!

I think you very nicely captured the thoughts that were gradually dawning on me as I pulled out those memories. Thanks.

Did you use Hunters and Collectors too? So far I quite like what I have seen of the work. The cartridge belts were outsourced.

I use them every year, always happy with the results. Kevin had some leatherwork done for us last year as well that we picked up this year from my buff backskin.

Congrats, Pheroze !

That purse idea might have allowed a quicker return. Nice play.
Ladies have to accessorize.

Good memories.

:ROFLMAO: a little cynical? I did want to make sure everyone had something at the end.....maybe a little bribery:rolleyes:

Looks awesome! How does the leatherwork pricing compare to mounting? Definitely something I would consider, a euro mount and something like you've done.
