I collect books on Africa, African exploration, hunting, early missionary work, etc etc. I buy a ton of books off of ebay and its exciting when I open a package to find some interesting script written in a book or in this case, some script and a vintage post card sent from Central African Republic from the author to the same lady the book was inscribed too. I wish I new the backstory,

Sometimes I will exhaust hours trying to track down more information from nuggets like this. I actually met (and became good friends) with the great Jean Pierre Hallet because he inscribed a book from Bakersfield and I was able to track him down to Los Angeles back in the 90's.

So I opened Black Elephant Hunter by Kevin Duffy and in the front cover of the jacket (hidden) was a post card to Mrs Bonnie Dorr of Avatar inc. 760 N. La Cienega Los Angeles CA 90069, which is a business address and now a Hair Salon. Googling Bonnie and even Kevin Duffy has few results. Wonder if he is still alive?? Wonder what their story was... I love this stuff

Check out the pics!

I like it when people find things like this.

I cant make out the year on the post card, the book was published 1960, autographed in 75. I am researching the stamps to see when they were released.

Based on the dates in this bio, I would imagine the author is no longer with us.

Interesting, I just picked up a copy of this book last week here in Oz.
I wonder if the film ever got released?

To me, the cat on postcard looks as jaguar, not leopard. More knowledgable people maybe vould check?

Hi Jay,

Hope you're well.

I'm headed your way in January.

Attending SHOT Show has been a long time bucket list item for me.

Finally made it happen and I'm headed to Vegas.

I know you're some distance from Vegas - but would be keen to catch up if it works out.

Have a good one.
