Well, 13 months on from my trip to Namibia my trophies finally made it back to England, a few mixed feelings along the way, I have to say I’m not impressed with the taxidermy companies prep work if I’m being honest!
In the package were mine and a friends trophies, in total 3 Oryx, 2 Springbok, and 2 Mountain Zebra.
One springbok skull (mine) was smashed in two, I’d say largely due to the way it had been cleaned and mounted, not transit, the way it was cleaned made it hideously brittle and they had mounted it in such a way as to apply pressure at the front and back of the head so it snapped it two and crumbled...
My friends springbok had suffered with a broken horn which snapped at the base, and bizarrely his Oryx which he’d had a long nose cut done on, had a cut at 90 degrees to the nose cut as if someone had started cutting the front of the nose off then realised their mistake!! It had also clearly been glued back together....
Skins had so many holes in which weren’t there when they were skinned, not really sure what they’ve done to be honest.
Anyway, won’t be using that firm again.
But here are the finished articles, one lovely old Oryx bull which had a great story and memory attached and one much younger beast. I’m happy with my repair to the springbok which I think is a pretty smart trophy (I’m certainly happy with him), and my zebra, aka Debra which was an old mare and has all the scars of a long and hard life telling a great story!

Sorry to hear about this, which outfitter and taxidermist did you go with/use?

Sad to see the broken items. Your zebra rug looks great in that room.

Hope you can salvage the trophies that were damaged.
The Zebra rug looks good.

Agree with Brickburn- the rug looks great. Sorry to see the damaged skulls.
