Many of you will be aware that the UK government has been considering a ban on the import / export of all hunting trophies.
I received an email update yesterday from the British Association of Shooting & Conservation advising that a ban on the export of trophies from the UK was off the agenda. There is a proposal to ban the import of hunting trophies from 'endangered animals'. There is no definition yet of 'endangered', but presumably could well be those species listed in CITES 1 and 2.
There are no guarantees in the UK at the moment; the Prime Minister's fiancée and father are both patrons of an organisation seeking to ban recreational fishing, so Boris Johnson will come under pressure. There are signs, however, than an outright ban will not be introduced.
