US Customs form change for South Africa

U probably know already but the US Customs form you need to carry you rifle to S Africa just added an expiration date. Idjits in S Africa think that form date means your rifle ownership expires that date. It doesnt obviously. Be sure you have the form wo a date or that the date expires after you return home. SCI has a good story on it. Also u can get the non date form there.

SCI sent out the notification a while back on this. SCI had this all fixed and now CBP goes back to it!
Everyone should have the previous form and just keep using it.

i just drove 5 hours to get this form approved by homeland and the form says expires September 30,2024 and was dated May 2024. As I will be returning September 30, 2024 from Zimbabwe I think I’m ok but who knows. this is the form that’s currently on the website and I can’t find an undated form. Any help would be appreciated. Are you flying through JNB? I’ve only had this looked at in South Africa. In Zim they didn’t look or ask about form dates.

in on Sept 6 and out Sept 14. I think I should be ok but who knows. checking with Gilbert at Africa Sky for clarification. Mark sent me an undated form to use but I thought SA required a date on the form. Plenty of time to get it sorted. In the meantime Delta has changed my domestic flight schedule five times in the last month creating long layovers and short connections. You don’t always get what you pay for!

@sgt_zim As long as your CBP time stamp is 2024, you're ok for you upcoming trip if hunting or transiting through RSA. and need to deal with SAPS.

I would Never cut it that close (if any way to get another form)— one flight delay and you might have problems…No point having your gut-in-a-knot over it and detracting from a great safari

Just one of the reasons I opted not to fly Delta/UA direct to JNB. Us domestic airlines just suck all the way around. Plus, economy+ was about $900 more than Qatar.

Never flown with Qatar, but I have with Emirates. Everybody here who's flown both says Qatar is even better than emirates. That's just

Actually, that would be a big no. The only pluses of Qatar over Emirates are: (1) Qatar earns Avios and (2) cheaper.

Emirates: better food, much better FA, easier gun travel.

I have flown Qatar 3 trips over. Business class because a travel agent got great prices on it. This year there were no deals to be found and I wasn't paying $5500-6000 for a flight in business. I won't fly cattle class. I am just to old, tall and big for those seats. Delta Premium was gotten at a bargain price early one morning so going that route. Also tired of all the long flights and layovers. Rather go direct and get there quicker.

I’m with you Mark. Always flew first class but prices are ridiculous. Got premium select through Jennifer early on for around $3200 refundable and I’ll try that. So far I’m not too impressed with their constant schedule changes.
