Just returned home from one of the most enjoyable hunts I have ever been on. I traveled to the Texas hill country in hopes of hunting a mixed bag of exotic. I have hunted exotics two other times before this trip with good results, but this was a different special place. I booked the hunt with Hunter Ross of DesertSafaris of San Antonio. After arriving at the ranch house and checking the rifles it was strait to hunting.
After two and a half days of hunting we bagged seven animals; three axis bucks, two blackbuck, white fallow buck and a hybrid ibex. All animals measured into the gold metal of the SCI records. With mixed terrain of canyons and oaks I felt like I was back in Africa watching the sun go down after another successful day on safari.
I hold this trip a second only to Africa the amount of animals and the quality of the trophies. I looked over a 100 axis bucks in two and half days. If you are looking for a safari quality hunt without the 24 hour flight, I highly recommend Hunter and his first class outfit.
