I have a number of day packs, weekend packs, backpacks, etc., but I am wondering if a fanny/butt pack would not be ideal for the few items I need to carry while hunting in Africa this fall. Ideas? Experience?

Thanks.

I don't know... It might give you an extra second or two to get a shot off as the baboons will laugh and point before running off.

Seriously, if you have a small day pack, the tracker will gladly carry it for you if it becomes too much.

You can get everything you really need on a shooting belt.

I considered one as well, however, I came to my senses and nixed the idea.
Seriously, IMO, a small day pack or a sling pack of some kind will suit you better.

DG I carry a belt type shell holder along with extra rounds in pockets. Plains game, just a few xtra rounds in pockets. That’s it. Oh, and a pocket knife, for some reason.

I am a big fan of waist packs since my neck and shoulders won't support backpacks any more. I have several different sizes. I like the smaller ones bc if you overload the big ones they tend to sag down.

I would suggest a medium fanny pack with as many pockets as you can get - including on the belt portion. My favorite has 1 main and 6 smaller pockets and it is not very big at all. It has enough room for a water, snack, ammo, first aid, multi tool, etc. More shit than you need

20 years old with no brand so I can't assist. I would just look on Amazon until you see something you like.

This would be a good choice and I only looked on the first page

I carry a small day pack along for the extra crap I like to drag along. Use something small and comfortable.

I'm a gear head, so much so that my PH started calling me "Inspector Gadget". In truth, it wasn't very much but it was a lot more than the typical PH loadout of Binos, cigarettes, and a lighter. I didn't use a day pack or a fanny pack I carried my gear in a Safari Vest. All those pockets on a safari vest make it easy to store your small items and they are easier to get to than removing and digging thru a pack. You can also wear your vest on the plane ride over and all of those pockets act as a second unregulated carry-on. If you're looking for a different way to carry your gear I'd look into a good safari vest before I bought a fanny pack.

If you get one, just make damn sure you have the tracker carry it for you. That way there is no chance someone will get a photo of you wearing it.

Pockets...you have pockets in your pants and shirts don't you? Strap on an ammo belt with a knife and you will want for very little else. Still feeling like you left something behind? Alright...safari vest will cover the rest.

Hard NO on the fanny pack.

My ammo belt holds: ammo slide, knife, water bottle, and possibles pouch. I can’t think what else I would carry in a Fanny pack. Perhaps tampons? (Sorry, couldn’t help myself)!

Aren’t you from Sonoita??

Hard No Bro, cowboys don’t let other cowboys wear fanny packs. :ROFLMAO:
Yeah, from Sonoita but no hat, no cows. Hell of a pack of bird dogs, though.

Morning Rob, Any feeling for how the 300 H&H shoots? How's the barrel condition?

Hello. I see you hunted with Sampie recently. If you don't mind me asking, where did you hunt with him? Zim or SA? And was it with a bow? What did you hunt?

I am possibly going to book with him soon.
Currently doing a load development on a .404 Jeffrey... it's always surprising to load .423 caliber bullets into a .404 caliber rifle. But we love it when we get 400 Gr North Fork SS bullets to 2300 FPS, those should hammer down on buffalo. Next up are the Cutting Edge solids and then Raptors... load 200 rounds of ammo for the customer and on to the next gun!
