Greetings AH Family,
I hope my post finds you all well !
My question relates to the Weatherby Vanguard Safari 375 H&H.
I recently acquired the above rifle in near new condition and have been attempting to research it ever since, with not much joy.
There simply appears to be little to no information regarding this rifle. :-(
At face value the rifle appears to be quite well made.
Looking for the basic information such as: period of manufacture, how many were made, new price, pros and cons and general (unbiased) opinion.
Basically any information would be more than I have currently.
Thanks in advance !

I want to say they made them up until a few years ago. Not sure of how many were made, but one would have had no problem finding one as demand just isn't for that brand.

You could of bought it new for like $800

It appears that they are still being made. I found one online for $983 with a list price of $1399.

It would be a great shooter

The Vanguard is a good rifle, made by Howa in Japan the 375 H&H retails for about $1700 in Australia now 8 mts ago about $1400. We are being screwed on every thing, food ,fuel ammo electricity ect blamed on the covert virus & climate change . Over paid company CEOs & greedy
corrupt politicians are the the real cause.

Thanks rdog. Yes I saw that it was made in Japan. Japanese engineering always seems to be half decent.

I seem to recall a cluster of these popping up -- as well as a cluster of leftover Rem 700s in .375 -- right before COVID wrought havoc with the market. (Per usual, I didn't, but *should have* bought one for the price!)

Vanguards are excellent rifles for their price, and very accurate for a production rifle. Here is some additional information from the Weatherby web site.

Call Weatherby directly. They will give the answers to all of your questions. I recall no business that has better customer service than they do.
Thanks Thomas!
I contacted Weatherby Inc.
Below is the response:
Hello Philip,
Thank you for contacting Weatherby Inc.
That rifle left here in 2018.
There were quite a lot of those models built. Currently, we have just discontinued the dangerous game and that caliber is currently in the Vanguard line.
I do apologize however there currently is no longer available for stocks in that model.
You will need to seek an aftermarket option for that firearm.
Hope this helps.
Feel free to reply to this email with any other questions you may have.

So…. that gives me much more information that I had previously. It also confirms that I need to look for a good aftermarket stock if I want another stock.

Thanks clockwork …
I’m glad I grabbed this one.
It looks reasonably decent.

Weatherby (Howa) only made 99 Vanguard Safaris in 375 H&H. They are impossible to find. I had to import mine from Canada. There is much misinformation on this thread in regards to availability and pricing. Below is a pic of mine after a trip to NECG for barrel band swivel and Timney trigger installations. For what it's worth, I have turned down 3x some of the above appraisals.

There is nothing wrong with the stock that is on it currently, however I was going to scratch around on an additional stock if there was one available. Doesn't look like there is any avail from Weatherby at least anyway.
