You lucky basterd, you just started;) Wish I could start over again with nothing remembered.
This the reason my fascination for Africa started:) Enjoy!

since cliffy started this thread svinejakt
ive thought about rereading them also .

Bluey: Please dont hesitate to start. I am a big fan and I love the early work. Start from the beginning and go into the wilderness of Africa with the Courtneys:) And later the Ballantynes. I started reading them when I was 13-14 years old and just wanted to be on the same adventures as those guys:D Fond memories.

it would be good to read them in order this time .
some of them ive read twice

I'm trying to do it in order. Now in WWI in France with Courtney!

Just finished this novel, what a rollercoaster!

There actually are 19 Courtney series books. "When the Lion Feeds," published in 1964 and beginning just before the Zulu War of 1879, was the first, and it became the basis for a centuries' long history of the family going back to the late 17th century and forward to the late eighties. This list provides chronological order of publication and chronological order of the books. https://www.bookseriesinorder.com/courtney/

They are all readable, though the latter works published with co-authors are not of the same quality as his earlier individual work. That is a technique used by of other aging popular franchise authors like Clive Cussler did before his death with his Dirk Pitt series.

Smith published another 40 novels in addition to the Courtney series. They are all readable and several are superb.

Well chronological order it is. 18 to go!

Saw the OP and thought Cliffy was back for a moment until I noticed the date.

I picked up When the Lion Feeds in Dar or Mombasa in 1968. Waited impatiently for the next Courtney or Ballantyne book to come out for the next 30, maybe 40 years. The last decade or two haven't been near as good imo.

Hi Jay,

Hope you're well.

I'm headed your way in January.

Attending SHOT Show has been a long time bucket list item for me.

Finally made it happen and I'm headed to Vegas.

I know you're some distance from Vegas - but would be keen to catch up if it works out.

Have a good one.
