This place has been a great resource for me over the years for all things Africa! I have spoken with quite a few of you on the phone and been able to meet quite a few more in person at the past 2 DSC AH dinners. I appreciate the opportunity to be a member here and be able to post as well as absorb information daily.

Back to the title of the post, where to go next.....

I'll be turning 40 this year and would like to look at doing something big or special. Fortunately I've been able to go on what I consider many special trips already. Anyways, I'll be at DSC in a few weeks and plan on speaking with all my trusted outfitters/friends that I already know, and probably speaking to a few more to get acquainted.

I've been to Zimbabwe and Zambia the past two years, and have been to SA a few times as well. I'm thinking maybe elephant in Zim (I am now ok with having replicas made, where I was unsure of that in the past), or leopard in Zim or Namibia.

Maybe adding buff to the ele in Zim for a great bang for the buck experience?

I also would like to go to Australia for buff, and there are a few countries in Europe I want to visit as well. The wine route in SA is also on the list, so a PG/sightseeing trip is not out of the question either.

Any thoughts are welcomed friends... I have a good idea of what I will probably lean towards, but you never know..

All the best,
Charles

Whatever you decide I wish you luck. For me leopard has always been my dream trophy and as you probably know I am trying once again in Namibia next May. I ve said my retirement dream hunt is going to be an Elephant hunt somewhere. I have to be realistic if I had unlimited funds it would be Bongo and LDE without question. But back to your thread my vote is Elephant hunt. Good luck buddy!

Charles, how big is big, how special is special? You could set up a raffle on AH to take one member as your guest on your next hunt for whatever that might be. That would not only be big but HUGE and very SPECIAL.:rolleyes: My vote would be for Leopard and Bongo, saving the elephant for your later years. Good luck on your quest.

I have a suggestion Charles, Spain.

My friends 4 Aces Outfitters will be at DSC booth 3200, have a chat with them.

Thanks Reedy for all you have contributed over the years! I know I've enjoyed reading your posts for the 1-1/2 years I've been on here.

I struck out on Mr. Spots in Zim, but it is definitely high on my list for the future.

I too have struck out on Mr. Spots and thinking about a return engagement for sure!

There is too big I suppose:D!! Lets say the hunts I layed out are in the realm of possibility, whereas a bongo or Lord Derby are not!

Might look at Uganda. 2 Buffalo species, Sitatunga, 2 Bushbuck species and a lot more. Said to be safe and a great destination to hunt.

Elephant hunt of any kind will be fantastic. There are many choices from trophy to cull. I believe there are more options for you in Zim but an own use elephant in the Caprivi is a great option as well. It may come down to the budget. Hope to see you at DSC and discuss this more.

Look forward to speaking with you in Dallas!

You have a lot of hunting life left...use it wisely for all the memories to share with your grand kids some day! Never hesitate with taking photos of everything, even if its not on your list.

I would love to hunt Uganda someday for sure! Add in the Uganda Kob to the species you already listed!

So many places/trophies, so little time! I have always dreamed of a 21-30 day dangerous game hunt! Elephant, buffalo, leopard, lion, maybe hippo & croc. The Caprivi has always been a dream adventure as well. Over my budget though. Still I’m a born dreamer!
Where ever you decide, please report and share photos with us! I have truly enjoyed reading/seeing your exploits!

We have been playing this "where next" thing a bit of late, myself included. Was all set to try west Africa, Burkina Faso. But now the terrorists have made it a no go country for the time being. Havent pulled the trigger on the next hunt either but still would like to give west a go. Good luck on your next venture!

It sounds like you have a pretty good handle on African options. A couple of other ideas: Alaskan interior griz, cool spot and stalk hunt for a bear with an attitude. Scotland for red stag, again a very cool spot and stalk hunt and surprisingly reasonable. Argentina free range red stag hunt. I haven’t done this one but it is on the short list!

Grizz certainly on the list as well!! Also moose(y)

Thank you sir! I certainly will share the report and pics(y)

If you are unguided on moose, remember that a big bull is 10 trips for two guys who can pack! Don’t pull a cheechako stunt and shoot one 5 miles in!

Hello cpr0312,

Namibia:
At the moment my employer has permits available for two elephant, two leopard and a dozen buffalo.
The elephant and buffalo permits are for our new Caprivi Strip / Zambezi Region concession (free range).
The elephant permits are both for trophy bulls.
The leopard permits are for our main camp, up in the Khomas Hochland Highlands (also free range).

Cheers,
Paul.

I have spoken with Philip in the past and he is on my short list for Namibia leopard!

Chopped up the whole thing as I kept hitting the 240 character limit...
