I'm going to have my black stock from my winchester 70 375hh hydrodipped to a wood pattern with satin clear coat. I think I've settled on these 3 choices but like them all equally.

What say you? Which one looks most natural on a riflestock, one that compliments a 375, or just your favorite?

Unfortunately I found this other one I like and can't edit. Feel free to cast a write-in vote for #4. Appears to be a darkish brown, black, with just a touch of gold/orange View attachment 418857
I like that one too. Either that or the burl would look good!

Number 4, prior to that I'd have chosen the burlwood. How does this finish hold up under field use?
With just the film it will scratch rather easy. They put an automotive clear coat on it so its as protective as your car's finish. Fairly strong against minor scratches and there are ways to buff it.

This is my concern as well. I’ve had a few rifles with an inexpensive finish and after just a few trips to the field, it was looking not so good. In the end I did regret not having spent more on a better stock.

Why not pause on the hydro dip finish. Save your pennies for a while and have a proper timber stock installed on your proper Winchester M70? It will look much better and will be a rifle your children will look forward to using…and eventually owning.

I have the original wood stock too. I prefer the feel of the synthetic and it drops the weight a half pound to a still very manageable 8.5

I thought about having the black stock painted or camo dip, but I agree this rifle deserves wood (in some manner anyway)

If it doesn't turn out, you just send it off and have it done another pattern

I've done a couple and put a rattle can satin clear coat on them. Personal preference on a hunting rifle. Don't want to advertise my position and over some hard use have held up fairly well. YMMV.

I mostly see plastic/other in black or camo etc so when a wood stocked rifle shows up it really stands out. Hard to beat a nice wood or looks like wood stocked gun.
Those stainless with plastic rifles fill a great need if one is going on a rough weather hunt etc but short of getting dropped in a river or lake a wood stock still gives good service.
If I was selecting for my rifle I would go with #4.

I have that same burlwood pattern on my Ruger American 30-06. It looks really good in the sunshine. I have a definite dislike for black stocks ever since lugging that POS M-16 around for 3 years. Damn made by Mattel crap. I am now more than happy with the Ruger as it is the most accurate gun I have ever owned. I think the burlwood will look exquisite on your 375.
