Just curious, can someone please tell me why some company has not invented an SRO or MRO that provides focus enhancement even if it was only a 4X versus none yet? Please, any optic that looks like a scope is not to be in this discussion. I shoot a DR with a MRO...with my aging eyes I would love to have even a 4X at 100 yards. I guess I am looking for the enginners of our group to explain why this cannot be done.

Eotech magnifier may work for you. But will need another mount location behind your red dot

I thought long and hard about this very problem...

The magnifiers for reflex red dot sights mount between the eye and the sight. The magnifiers' all have less that 3" eye relief. This one has only 2.2" Ouch! I like my aging eyeballs in one piece, thank you very much :) I'd love to have a variable magnification reflex sight but for dangerous game rifles that produce 40+ pounds of recoil, I don't think they are the optimum solution due to short eye relief.

The magnifiers weigh half a 8 or like this one, over 10 ounces. Add that to the 2 to 3 ounces for the reflex and it's close to the weight of mounting a 1" tube Leupold scope.

I have however though about dropping $2000+ for EAW Pivot Mounts (side swing) for adding the option to one of my doubles. Still thinking...

I think the tactical market drives the reflex market. Until there is a business case to make money off a variable magnification red dot, I don't think we will see one.

I have thought about dropping $2000 to have JJ Perodeau install EAW Pivot scope mounts on one of my doubles. Still thinking...

I agree the current solution is a low power scope with a red dot

Thanks but still starts to look like a scope to me. Can’t imagine this on my DR

Cheek weld? Does not make sends to me to have a double that “fits” and then have to lift your head 12 to 25 mm?

Please explain how this is going to work without raising the stock? New stock, comb pad or adjustable comb.

Rare breed. I agree completely. But he was asking for a red dot with magnification. But not a scope. Besides being built for low recoil tactical rifles. They are hideous looking.

Even though a 1 power scope with a red dot will provide exactly what he is asking for. He doesn’t want a scope

a low power scope with a red dot can be used with both eyes open. And that gives almost the same fast acquisition speed as a red dot. But with more clarity due to better glass
IMHO

Rare breed, I think it might be cheaper to go with lens implants?

Oh hell, we will just get you close enough that ele skin will polish the end of the bbl.

Have you thought of a “micro prism”?

Don’t discount them as “tactical”. A nice low base and they mount very low. They’re very tough, I know multiple people running them on 12 gauges with slugs. Nice wide FOV and very forgiving eye relief. The 1X primary arms can go 6-7” ahead without the shadow you get on most micro prisms out there.

There is also 2x larger versions as well
