@Spooksar
The rifle with the walnut stock is in a caliber based on 2 others plus my own mods I wumped up with it.
It is a 303 British case necked down to 25 calibre. It has had the Epps treatment with the case blown out with minimal taper but instead of a 30 degree shoulder angle I went to 35 degrees. Top that off with the newton idea of moving the shoulder forward the neck is now one caliber. 257 long instead of the standard .311 neck..
This greatly increases case capacity.
With 100gn Barnes TTSXs I get over 3,600fps and 115-117s over 3,300fps. Both with outstanding accuracy.
The wildcat root is fun but can be expensive as well as frustrating working out what to do and what you want to use it for. Working out loads is another hurdle to overcome. If you can get hold of a P14 bolt it is already set for magnums as the 303 rim is the same size as the magnums and doesn't need the bolt face altered.
How bout a 257 weatherby necked up to 6.5. That would fill the very small gap in the 6.5s
