The Video of the hunt is now on You Tube.

You may recognize Louis Jacobs from Buffalo Land Safaris and Kobus Kok From Kok and Seyfert.
The tracker 'Lieutenant" was a great young man.

People have been asking for a critique of the hunt. This is as good a place as any. I offer it honestly and in good spirit to aid fellow hunters in choosing a hunt. It is of course just my opinion.

1. Louis Jacobs and Kobus Kok are first class PH's and individuals. Professional, calm and good natured. We had a great time. I would definitely hunt with them again. The cook, Rasiile, was very good and fun to be around.

2. Buffalo Land Safaris and their staff are the best. It's an excellent farm to hunt on. We never saw a fence while hunting. The land with the Kaserie River and abundance of animals is awesome.
JP, Zelma and all their staff run a top drawer operation. I am going back as soon as I can!

3. The other half of Kok and Seyfert is Johan Seyfert. I have to say, to be accurate and fair, that I can't recommend him at all. 'Nuff said.

Hi Bruce, It sure does.!
Huge difference beween it and 375 HH with solids. ( Comparing only shoulder / heart shots.)

700 grain hard cast bullet at 1800 fps. The bullet performed the same as a good solid.
It really hurts them and does much damage. They just run off and find the nearest thorn tree to lay down under.

midwest, Yes, that's all it is. Has 27 inch heavy barrel and stranght stock to help with the recoil. weighs about 15 lbs. Also a cool "switch barrel" outfit.

That's very cool... I've got a Handi frame that I've got a .45-70 barrel, 12 gauge shotgun barrel, and a .44 mag barrel all fitted for.... I've thought about getting a .30-06 barrel fitted for it next.. but now you have me thinking about something completely different..

There are two grades of H&R/ Nef frames.

As far as I know:
SB1 is the weaker frame. Found on .22, 357mag and shotguns up to12 ga. Not the frame that you want.
SB2 Frame is stronger. Used in rifles and 10 ga. shotgun. This is the right frame for conversions.

The conversion is simple if a gunsmith knows what he is doing. Google, "Barrel Stub." They use the breach end of the old barrel and thread in an new barrel and chamber it with new extractor. Check out Green Mountain barrel prices.

You need to keep pressures low. Ed Hubel knows this stuff. Slow double base powders with flat pressure curves and long barrels are recommended with big cases. Viht. N550, N540 .

I am making another one into 50-110 Winchester. 500 grain bullet at 1800 fps.

The fat barrel and right stock configuration makes them very managable in big callibers.

Hi Brian, I'm based in the North West Province but do must of our hunting in Limpopo.

Thanks for the note. I, and my family, have hunted for about a decade at Africa Dawn Safaris in the Waterberg Mountains. We are booked there for 2018. My grandson will go on his first hunt then.
