Two of the best holsters I have are made out of horse hide, which I understand is almost impossible to come by any more for any reasonable price. I was wondering if anyone out there has used zebra hide as a substitute for horsehide........seems it might make a practical substitute and also a useful "souvenier" of ones' hunt in Africa. I see a few places offering cull hunts; I figure one can take and have the hide exported as a trophy and once it's here in the states, have it turned into leather and made into a few holsters.

Thoughts?

As tough as zebras are, I can't see it not working. You would just have to make sure the tanning process was done properly. The leather should make some very nice holsters.

Hi Jay,

Hope you're well.

I'm headed your way in January.

Attending SHOT Show has been a long time bucket list item for me.

Finally made it happen and I'm headed to Vegas.

I know you're some distance from Vegas - but would be keen to catch up if it works out.

Have a good one.

Mark
