Zeiss Built by Leupold?

I was going through some old notes (I keep a folder by the PC and jot things down) and saw the following:

Zeiss Conquest scopes assembled by Leupold.

At the time this was not as important information to me as it is now - or maybe it doesn't matter at all. I didn't cite any source, unfortunately.

Does anyone have confirmation on this? Thoughts?

I believe this is true only on the Conquest and Conquest Rimfire scopes now. The Conquest HD5 and Conquest Duralyt are made in Germany.

I am not sure the Conquest HD5 is fully made in Germany as Zeiss says it is designed and assembled in Germany, while Zeiss says the Conquest DL(earlier Duralyt) is Made in Germany.
The Conquest HD5 is also lower priced than the Conquest DL.

The previous Conquest riflescopes (not HD5) were made in the USA by Meopta USA in New York, not Leupold. Leuold used to assemble the previous version of Leica rifle scopes that came in the wooden box. Meopta has been the OEM for several high end makers including Zeiss 85 and 65mm spotters, some previous Leica spotters, and the current Nightforce spotting scope. The reason you're starting to see so many new products with the Meopta badge is because those OEM contracts have expired.

I went and verified this with Leupold. JG is right, Leupold did not assemble the Conquest scopes, but did do some Leica scopes some time ago.
