I'm looking for a few other members who are wanting/needing this same exact stock, These were previously made by McMillan on a order as needed basis, however that's no longer the case, to order these now the order has to consist of 10 units which is the minimum, cost is approx $625 each, they all must be the same orientation, as well as fill type and weight. I've talk to Bob Beck (Owner of McMillan Stocks) personally on these about our situation as a rifle builder and has stated his operations need to stay in place to keep things moving. Which I respect, and he suggested if they were in such demand, gather customers and place an order. However I don't see the need for 10 of them myself, but I will extend the bulk of my order for 5 stocks. So I'm asking if there would be any willing to order some with me, I'm not asking anyone to send me any money, we could all send $ to McMillan under African Hunting as a whole to place the order, I'm an FFL so we'll recieve the discount. LOP 13-5/8 my cell is 2296462837 if anyone would like to discuss it further. I'm Charlie Barnes of Flat Creek Rifles, I recently built a Rifle for Boddington that's in the latest issue of Shooting Times.

I was thinking #5 contour, and sunny hill, but I'm up for discussion on it especially if a guy would place the other 5 order needed. I would do magnum fill, the happy medium is tbd I guess. I'm building 416 rem mags on the ones I'm ordering I don't want to be too heavy or too light.

Forgive me for a dumb question. I assume the that a model 70 safari model would drop right into one of these? I might be interested in one.

slight mods may be needed depending on your barrel contours. I recommend bedding every stock so I've always ordered them with 5/8 pillar holes. But depending on the order #s I'll lean either way to make this work for as many as we can.

They could come a few ways, we typically order McMillans with 5/8 pillar holes to install high score gunsmithing pillars, which are superior to the std McMillan ones. So it's not a dumb question but here lies the diff in factory rifles vs custom built. But I can drill out them if the majority order wants drop ins from McMillan.

Would have some interest but a couple of questions first:

Could these be done as flat-tops? Would reduce cost some and then everyone could inlet to precise specs. Fill weight, LOP, etc, could all be uniform.

Any paint or finish options?

It's an option for sure, but I do believe the flat top is available as a regular option and can be ordered one by one I'm trying to get as many of these out there as I can, hopefully to generate interest to bring back into production for all who want them. And I'm not sure who all would have inletting capability.

There is a podcast somewhere I can't remember where, with Beck outlining the cut of available SKUS for McMillan stocks.

You can still get a flat top Lawson/Lazzeroni thumbhole and a flat top M70 safari stock.

Is it possible to have them built similar to D'Arcy Echols style, #5 contour, magnum fill, Sunny Hill drop box bottom metal? LOP can be adjusted accordingly, 13 3/4" to 14" is my preference.

I'd likely be interested & stuff one in the safe for a future build. I've got one D'Arcy Echols McMillan stock on a 330 Dakota. It handles very very well.

There are no more Echols McMillans.

That was a Kelly and D'Arcy thing. Now that Kelly sold to Bob Beck, Bob is trying to make the company make money.

Bannsner Stocks are very good, you can do a drop belly for those. Similar shape to a Echols.

Now that I think about it, you might just call Echols and ask him. I remember Bob Beck saying the cancelled all low number SKU's. Maybe D'Arcy has another thing worked out with them.

I am fairly certain that Echols stock is not for a dropped magazine, he does the bondo thing on the bottom of them to fill in the space.

Mark Bansner's stock is not dropped either. Same thing.

A shame there's no more Echols McMillans. Wonderful stock design. The Echols I have will hold 4 down, 330 Dakota. I was informed it's an Echols stock. Could be erroneous data.

Is Bob Beck with MOA rifles? I have reached out to D'Arcy on numerous occasions. Never a response. I'm not familiar with Kelly.

I do love Bansners & noticed they have a David Miller replica however I prefer to have checkering on the larger calibers....375 & up.

Bansner may sell you a Miller but it won't arrive as a miller, I've bought a number of stocks from Mark until this fiasco, Jeff Swinford a very loyal customer of mine wanted another Bansner Miller style and we ordered it but didn't receive what I paid for, which has led me back down the McMillan path. He said his mold is down and has been for some time, just cut it and bondo it. Bullcrap! Not on my name that ain't happening, so if he doesn't agree to make it right the Bansner model 70 I have will be in the classifieds, as with a number of sheep hunter stocks I have in stock from him. Also I have reached out to D Arcy also no reply or answers.

Yes Bob Beck owns McMillan and that's been a great experience imo, he's cut leas times way down, so I respect his rules on what he makes or doesn't, he simply said Charlie if you get more to buy them it'll be an option again! That's my goal. And I'm goin to call and ask about the D Arcy mold also. That's a very nice stock. They may can get ahold of Mr Echols, or Phil Showmaker in Ak could.

Bob Beck has done very well for himself. He is now the CEO of McMillan Stocks and Defiance Actions. I think Kelly sold him a decent company. Defiance was a company on the throws of its death bed as it was being managed into the dirt. Awesome products both, but Defiance was throwing money down the toilet as fast as they could get it.

Morning Rob, Any feeling for how the 300 H&H shoots? How's the barrel condition?

Hello. I see you hunted with Sampie recently. If you don't mind me asking, where did you hunt with him? Zim or SA? And was it with a bow? What did you hunt?

I am possibly going to book with him soon.
Currently doing a load development on a .404 Jeffrey... it's always surprising to load .423 caliber bullets into a .404 caliber rifle. But we love it when we get 400 Gr North Fork SS bullets to 2300 FPS, those should hammer down on buffalo. Next up are the Cutting Edge solids and then Raptors... load 200 rounds of ammo for the customer and on to the next gun!
