I’m pretty sure they’ve been dismissed by many here already as well as by leading economists on both the left and the right as apples/oranges and unrelated nonsense presented by Trump..

His numbers don’t compare tariffs at all… and they consider trade deficits in situations where there is naturally an imbalance…and a number of other factors… they even went so far as to present an algebraic formula that shows how they came up with the numbers…

Trump has also come forward today stating the “tarrifs” are leverage for other negotiations in many cases.. and example he provided was he’s willing to negotiate with China to reduce tariffs in exchange for a deal on tik tok…

So, yep.. still apples, oranges, red herrings, and in most cases, nonsense…

You realize that boomers are largely retired and have been retired for years right? And that Gen X and Millennials represent the overwhelming majority of senior leadership in government and in private enterprise for the last decade plus…

Every living generation over the age of about 35 has shit on their shoes on this one…

Still hostile business practices used diplomatically for no other reason than than to leverage larger market share simply because he has the economic might to make it happen. I true hope the economic uncertainty he is causing and the coming recession cost him the midterms at least then he’ll be a spent force and less able to do damage on the world stage.

True. Should have let it crash in 2008. We’d have been past it now. W. was more concerned about WMD’s and sharing candy with Michelle Obama though.

We agree on the first part of your post…

I’m not sure if we agree on the second part yet…

It doesn’t take losing the mid terms.. it just takes losing the support of the current congress and the current judiciary..

Returning to liberal leadership doesn’t fix anything in the US any more than putting Trudeau back in the PM seat would fix Canada..

One bar of signal means you are rural…

Which means I envy you :)

I’m longing for the day I escape my 5 bar world for a 1 bar world lol…

Some are saying this is the start of a trade war. There has been a tariff war going on for decades. America has been loosing. Should America do nothing and continue loosing for the sake of everyone but America being comfortable.

Tariff wars hurt surplus nations the worst. America has been a deficit nation for years. It looks like a number of nations are coming to the table to work out deals. If enough come forward the pressure builds on the others to fall in line. If enough countries band together they could make it rough on America but getting an agreement like that hammered out will be worse than herding cats.

Equities have been taking it on the chin. Change is always uncomfortable, often painful.

As an American I am glad to see an attempt being made to get to a more balanced trade relationship. Will it work, I don't know. What I do know is this is the first real attempt America has made in my lifetime. I am willing to accept the pain for the chance for a permanent reset.
You have no idea what’s gonna happen like the administration. You’re just repeating big words like reset to justify the dumbest move in decades. You might be ready to accept pain but this pain might be unbearable for most. You should accept the fact of what is happening right now.

I thought it was all FN Portugal now, didn't know that Miroku was back in the game.
But yeah, all those Buckmark hats and stickers are made in China.

Damn i miss the old kangaroo featherweights and down jackets.
Remember when their major competitor in boots and clothing was Cabela's and it was all made in the USA? Before they got bought out by the Walmart of hunting supplies... BPS. China!
WInchester is Portugal and some Spain. Browning Miroku Japan.

Best of both worlds 40 minutes from a town and 2 miles from a real old fashioned country store with a fairly good dinner and liquor selection. Connectivity sucks though.

Which brings me back to my question a number of pages ago. What the devil is the intent of his strategy? If he is serious about making tariffs a major revenue source then he can't sit around and make deals and use leverage. If the intent is to make deals, then where does he find the revenue to offset his tax initiatives, other investments, and address the national debt. He can't really do both.

I am sure his unquestioning supporters are nobly prepared to shoulder their share of the burden - at least until they start really looking at their 401K's or get a pink slip - but I am truly afraid this administration's actual strategy seems driven as much by the time of day or the latest Truth Social post as it is a coherent plan. Creating a decade (thus far) level market crash and those inane slides and their explanation do not inspire confidence among more normal voters.

This is indeed likely the last chance the republicans will have to right the economic ship of state. Someone better wake up the crew and find the captain.

after the hostile actions taken by the current administration Canadians can no longer afford to care about u.s. domestic problems. The current U.S. administration has no concern in regards to the Canadian domestic issues therefore From a Canadian and arguably a world perspective the best thing for the rest of us going forward would be an American dem. government running counter to policies currently being implemented. That’s what happens when you stop being friends with your neighbours.

Don't tell that to the Senate, I think the minimum age to get elected is 75!

I'll agree with you somewhat, no generation is totally clean. As a Gen X'r, I admit that a good bit of my generation has done a shit job of parenting and that to me is one of the largest problems that our Nation faces today!

My problem with the previous generation goes back to the Greenspan just keep printing money approach. It was great while it was great, but eventually someone has to pay the tab. It bothers me that Americans that haven't been born yet will be saddled with debt that the previous generations ignored or were complacent too. We're probably all going to have to bleed some for the future.
Hopefully we are just now going through the Adolesce of Our Great Experiment!

There’s no plan.
He’s just making it up on the go.
Captain might go down with the ship along with the crew meaning Republican Party.

Who? Millions because the averages tells you so.
Are you telling me millions are wrong because some dumbass doesn’t know what he’s doing?
Are you blaming people who invested their life savings in mostly American companies?
Also do you believe our justice system or you only believe when it aligns with your views.

Brother, you have been way too doom and gloom, might be good to step back. We are going to have a recession, we will come out of a recession. We will still be arguing numbers, policies, and their impact.
