Always a moving target with changes to immigration requirements in any country.
The bureaucratic BS is endless. It never gets easier to travel, does it?
I looked at the requirements for the visa and had a few questions if anyone can give me some feedback@Jeff505 and I made it through Namibian Customs in about 90 minutes yesterday. They certainly have some opportunity to improve the process, but it wasn’t that bad. We had to fill out the Visa application form even though we had pre-approved e-Visas, which seems redundant, The queues for those with e-Visas and those applying on arrival were poorly signed and a jumbled mess. That said, I spent less time in line entering Namibia than the last time I entered the US in Dallas! That was a three hour PITA!
Second trip to Namibia coming up in September was there early March when it rained every day on a leopard hunt needless to say cats don’t like rain and caved up so my return in September is needed. Questions on the visa some are very self explanatory but a few I need some help if anyone knows the answers or what they used thanks!@Jeff505 and I made it through Namibian Customs in about 90 minutes yesterday. I too brought all of the required documents and the customs agent refused to look at any of them! All they wanted was the e-Visa and manually completed Visa form.
That said. I recognize some of the documents you reference, but not all.
Deed of Surity: I brought a letter of invitation from the outfitter
Certified copies of Passport: I had copies, but not certified.
Six Months Bank Statement; I didn’t bring and I understand that this requirement was eliminated.
Current status of provider : No clue
Financial Status: I brought a letter from my bank stating I had sufficient funds to be traveling
So, my advice is to ask your outfitter. They’ll should be up to date on the requirements. Another alternative is to use a safari travel agent like Travel Express or Gracy and let them handle it.
I applied for pre approved e visa and got approved already.I’m a very prepared person and was just trying to get everything approved online like they recommended so I was following the list of requirements. I thought it was odd that they would ask for my outfitters and my bank statements for the last 6 months I appreciate your response hopefully they update their requirements
Yeah, why not just a $90 “entry fee” with no paperwork involved? Something like an entry into a National Park with a stamp. Then you could put the stamp on your forehead and pass through customs. LOL It’s not the money it’s all the BS paperwork and TIME involved for me. My one RSA hunt required getting a 4457, filling out all the Qatar, SAPS and Rifle Permit firearms related paperwork. It’s no small endeavor when you’re a working stiff. Now this? I’ll pass. There is a lot better ways to collect taxes.
I am from Canada. Taking a firearm to the states is difficult and takes time in advance. You can show up at the Canadian border and be through with hunting firearms in 15 minutes. You can also get a licence to buy firearms here fairly easily. None of this is easily done in the US .They do it because they can.
Its the old rule, it is their game and if you want to play you have to pay and do it by their rules.
I was actually surprised years ago at all the requirements that the US Government has in place for hunters who want to come here to hunt and or play.
If you’re trying to throw a dig on the US your claims are not valid it’s not hard at all, I know a number of guys that do it all the time it’s a very easy process. Canada also requires you to have a declaration fill out to leave. To come into US to hunt you have to get a AFT import permit which takes a couple minutes to fill out and that permit doesn’t cost you a dime. When I go to Canada I have to fill out a Non-Resident Firearm Declaration form (RCMP 5589 and pay a fee per weapon I’m bringing with me. If you want to purchase a firearm while in the states you can, you just have to follow the local states rules and have it shipped to a licensed firearm dealer in Canada also not a big deal.I am from Canada.
