    on a lighter note...

Never knew how to spell Shexnaydre, but knew a girl by that name in college. She said it was super common along with one other name on the other side of the river, and that the two families had bonfire contests on both sides of the river at a certain time of year.

    Mediums that perform

This is a category where the 9.3X62 really shines. When I first got onto AH, I was astounded that the 9.3X64 was not more popular. It is after all, much more powerful, and to my mind, not a medium, just a 9.3 that is not always legal to DG. But I have learned to keep my mouth shut about the...

I already got a "dislike" for basically saying that in a past post. I don't know ANY hispanic contractor who doesn't operate cash only for income tax evasion purposes. Doesn't matter if it's roofing or cutting hair, it is a given. Then they even qualify for medicaid and other benefits. Doesn't...

Then why hasn't someone come up with "which soundtrack from another movie is played in Gladiator"when the Germans are still in the forest, near to the time the headless horseman rides in...it is in the background, being chanted by the barbarians.

What caliber would you bring back from the dead?

30 Newton--it was too far ahead of it's time. Bullet development at the time was not up to the speed. 465 Nitro--THE lowest chamber pressure of any double to my knowledge and a great killer. +1 on the 350 Rigby--it was well spoken of by Taylor. Someone help me--what was that skinny, rimmed 6mm...

    Favorite caliber for cape buffalo?

I have only used 375 H&H on four buffalo. On one, there was virtually no reaction to the first FOUR SHOTS! There was a reaction, a dying one, for the fifth shot. That has given be pause. "It usually works" is not a comforting mantra. Am watching this thread with interest.

Chainsaws and those who use them

Mine is longer than your peevee. Grandpa and GGP used to load logs onto wagons by using turning hooks to roll them up planks. One man on each end, taking turns holding/turning sequentially. They cleared land with axes and crosscut saws in winter when you couldn't farm. Charged $2.50 an acre. Ran...

Sad to see unknowledgeable friends trash their CVT transmissions by not changing the fluid every 15K. How much Ammo is “Enough”?

One of my cousins asked his brother, "have you stacked up 8,000 rounds yet?" To which he replied, "man that's been in the rearview mirror a WHILE." They were talking about ONE pistol caliber. I didn't ask about their other rifles, pistols or rimfire....

How many guns is “too many”?

A retired police officer once stated, "that family is a real gun hoarding bunch...they have EIGHT firearms in their house!" Bullets that well advertised but were not that great

The 22 Winchester Dynapoint semi-hollow points in the blue box were monotonously accurate on turtle heads poking up out of the water at 70 yards. Have exactly one box left from all the 5 dollar bricks I bought back in the early 80's.

Does the price of ammo impact your choice of a rifle caliber

For shooting paper or ringing long range bells, yes. Cost consideration is tied to volume. For hunting, it is as irrelevant to me as the priority or cost of premium bullets--there is little volume involved in the equation. But if I really liked a double or a drilling for the fit, wood and...
