    Caliber recommendations

I have two matching X-bolt rifles, mine are both the Hells Canyon model with 26” barrels. I shoot 180 gr Nosler Accubond Trophy Grade factory ammo in the .300 Win Mag, very accurate and have taken several elk and mule deer with it here in MT. My other x bolt is a 28 Nosler that I shoot 175 gr...

    Elk guide recommendations

Montana Hunting Company has a good reputation, I’ve done elk and deer hunts with them in the past. They have several ranches for elk hunts with varying prices from reasonable to high end (ie, Ted Turner’s Flying D Ranch) which is pricey but you will definitely shoot a 350”+ bull there

Carpathian chamois hunt booked with HuntRomania

@375Fox thanks for the info on your experience, very helpful. Good to know I can ask for the final billing in USD vs Euro, makes it much easier doing the wire transfer. The deposit invoice he sent was in Euro so I asked the bank to send him Euro so first I got hit with a crappy exchange rate...

    Hunting chamois in Spain

Carpathian chamois hunt booked with HuntRomania

Well I pulled the trigger yesterday and sent Marius a deposit for a Carpathian chamois and wild boar hunt for Nov 2026. I know many on here have hunted various species with Marius and wanted to get some opinions from those who have been there. The hunt is primarily for chamois and I'm...

Agree, some great folks here on AH. Last fall I got to meet @Rickmt when he kindly invited me to bring my young GSP in training up to his place to chase Hungarian partridge for the day, hope we get to do it again this fall. Also got to meet @375 Ruger Fan when he reached out to join him and...

Inverness and the Spey and River Dulnain looking for ideas

Scotland is a great country to visit, my wife and I are going back in June 2026 to hunt roe deer and tour. Culloden battlefield is an hour east of Inverness and an interesting site to visit, location of the Jacobite rebellion. I’ve always wanted to do the drive on the A9 north of Inverness on...

    Indulge me...Ruger no 1 thoughts.

Now all of you enablers have me craving a No. 1. Saw several on Gunbroker with Mannlicher stocks, any thoughts on one with that stock option? Seems like something really different than any of my other rifles

Classic and Collectible Car and Motorcycle Thread

My first car I had was a ‘68 Chevelle SS 396, bought it in 1975 and later foolishly sold it to buy a new Chevy Monza (what a piece of junk). Man, I would love to have that Chevelle again and fix it up, was in great shape when I had it. I’ll have to see if I can dig up a pic

    Lets see some Kudu!

Here is another, first kudu I shot in Limpopo in 2021. If I recall he was about 54 1/2”. About like my other from Botswana but the Botswana bull has much deeper curls which gives the extra length.

    Browning Love?

Well I like my Brownings, bought to use not to collect. I shoot an X bolt Hells Canyon in 300 Win Mag more than any other rifle I own, my main elk and mule deer rifle in Montana and it shoots great and very accurate with factory Nosler TrophyGrade 180 gr Accubonds, taken several deer and elk...

Welcome to AH, I second what @Sabre is saying above. The sweet taste of a cheap price will quickly fade if followed by the bitter taste of a less than stellar experience. Requesting help with DIY spring bear hunt in Montana or Idaho

Having lived in the mountains of rural SW Montana for the past twenty years we have a half dozen people (mostly archery elk hunters) have run ins and are mauled to some degree by grizzlies every year. Taking my nephew on his first hunt

Depending upon when he is going to come to IL, look to see if you can take him during the youth season which may give better opportunities for a doe. Other option is to maybe take him squirrel hunting where you could have multiple chances to harvest game to build his excitement right away, plus...
