A new to me 7x57 has arrived in my house, I need to feed it! Looking for any recommendations on factory ammo for hunting that's semi-readily available as I dont reload. I'm interested in 140 or 150gr bullets for now.

I have gotten to like TTSX in my other rifles but can't track down a factory ammo for 7x57. Norma soft points seem to be around and inexpensive. Otherwise I see some Nosler e-tips, anyone have experience with those on game from this caliber?

Thanks guys!

I think the Nosler eTips may be the closest thing to TTSX in factory ammo you may find currently. I bought some as well but waiting for weather to warm before shooting some to see how they group

The .275 loads seem much rarer to find than 7x57 however

Go to ammoseek.com it will tell you what dealers have your ammo in stock.

I have used it hundreds of times with good result.

They have a some. I've bought a lot from them, they're a good company.

Cheers

Second the Nosler e-tip recommendation. The factory Accubond also shoots well in my old Winchester Model 70 in 7x57. Unfortunately, the Hornady .275 Rigby ammo was the worst I tried out of 5 or 6 factory loadings.

Thanks @WoodFire this is what I was mostly looking for, any real world experience with E-tips on game. Or other suggestions for readily available hunting rounds.

You bet! I've had my 7x57 for a few years but never hunted with it. It's very likely going with me to Africa in a few months though.

So much in this caliber readily available at fair prices. Almost like the 30-06. I just bought a 275 Rigby (same caliber to 7x57). I would buy 170+grains for large game think Kudu and Eland. It’s sweet spot is 140 grain that will take any other PG

Winchester makes an excellent 145Gr Power Point

Remington makes a soft point in 140Gr

Federal makes soft points in both 140Gr & 175Gr (but velocity is quite slow)

Prvi Partizan offers soft points in 140Gr weight & 173Gr weight and the leadfree TXRG in 150Gr

Sellier & Bellot offers the SPCE in both 140Gr & 173Gr

Brenneke offers the TIG in 177Gr weight

The European lead cored offerings will probably be discontinued upon the inevitable EU lead ban within less than three years (based upon a conversation I had with employees at Brenekke and Sellier & Bellot). So I strongly suggest stockpiling while you can.
