Keep an eye out on the Simpson ltd website. Often enough husqy 9.3s are for sale. You can usually get the x62s for $800-1,100 and the x57s for half that. I got a nice surplus FN 98 in x57 and had it re-chambered to x62 which was a very economical route.

These are near impossible to find new and almost as difficult in any used condition. It’s the only muzzleloader I wish was in more abundance.

Deer: field dress, to include removing the windpipe but not the hide. Hang in a cool place for a week/10 days. If it’s too warm, just go ahead and process the lot. I’d be skeptical of hanging it (outside of a specific aging cooler, etc.) without the hide, but that’s just personal preference.
