Swarovski NL PURE 14x52 or other NL Bino, have or used - your opinion, any comments? thx in advance

I have the forehead rest on my 12's and really like it. Gives an extra measure of stability and isn't obtrusive. Binos still fit in the same AGC harness.

Swarovski NL PURE 14x52 or other NL Bino, have or used - your opinion, any comments? thx in advance

tower- I actually use the 8x32's probably 80% of the time. I went with the 32 mm for a slightly smaller package. For glassing at my most common distances, i.e. a mile or less, they are perfect. Easier to carry and I use them to spot game, not try to score animals. The 12's are more for the...

Swarovski NL PURE 14x52 or other NL Bino, have or used - your opinion, any comments? thx in advance

I have 12x42 NL and 8x32 NL’s. Upgraded from EL’s a few years ago. Great field of view. Maybe slightly better glass. Not sorry I made the switch. Oh, great ergonomics too.

Based on the recommendation of a kind gentleman on this site last year I bought some Gunstix. They were a game changer for me. Weigh about 2.5 pounds and collapse to 32 inches.

MK V German Weatherby 300 WBY, JP Sauer & Sohn

As a kid I drooled over these German Weatherby's every time I went to the gun shop. .300 Weatherby was my dream gun, but never could afford one. Now that I can afford one, I have too many other guns to use so can't justify fulfilling the dream! First world problems, I know. If the sale falls...

What is going on with tipping culture in the hunting industry?

I don't have a good answer to the question, but will relate personal experience. In the late '90's I guided archery elk hunters for an outfitter friend of mine. We were typically up at 4 a.m. and usually to bed by 10 p.m. The rest of the day (about 18 hrs.) was guiding, horseback riding...

Has anyone else been injured while hunting away from home?

I've been shot (hit) twice while pheasant hunting. One pierced the skin in my leg and had to be removed. The other hit my neck hard enough to cause it to bleed, but bounced out. Horse are over backwards in 1989 and tore up a knee. Slid off the trail and almost straight down the mountain for...

Let’s be honest….accuracy off the sticks

Based on a recommendation from a member here, I got some GunStix last year before my N.M. oryx hunt. I did get the front leg, so essentially a tripod. Never shot off of 'sticks' before. The pic is my first group at 100 yds. w/ .300 W.M. off the 'sticks'. Then used them on the oryx for a 278...

Opinions or experience with Swarovski thermal clip-ons? (tM 35+ vs. tM 35.2)

I like the idea of double use, but think it depends on what you're hunting. My concern, especially with coyotes, would be that you spot one through the handheld, but by the time you get it mounted on the gun, the coyote might be gone or hard to find again. I think for hogs at a feeder the...

Opinions or experience with Swarovski thermal clip-ons? (tM 35+ vs. tM 35.2)

I just returned from a hog hunt where I used a thermal (outfitter's rifle) for the first time. Amazing piece of equipment. My conclusion, for my purposes, is that a QD thermal and separate scanner will work best.

    Alaska: Heli hunting on Brownbears

My spring 2023 brown bear had the remains of a moose calf in its belly and flying in we saw several bears trailing moose cows. I can understand the need for bear control as moose are a 'lifeline' for many Alaskan residents.

    Attempted scam on AH

DO NOT post 'I'll take it' or 'pm sent' on the public forum. The scammers clue in on these to send the texts/emails. Just do a direct pm to the individual if interested in something.

    Best Advice To Sellers!

A few things that irk me. First is posting an ad without pics and saying pics will be posted later. If you can't take the time to include pics with the ad, what else will you be lazy with? Shipping? Communication, etc.? Secondly, is folks that ask for pics or info and when you supply it, you...

    Shooting Sticks - Accuracy Expectations

Just wanted to thank JSLR for recommending the GunStix. The attached pic was my first time shooting off the sticks at the range. For some reason, it isn't oriented correctly- the 3 shots are at the top of the 'diamond', not to the side. Anyway, 100 yds., 3 shots. Just finished an oryx hunt...

Acceptable accuracy in a rifle! What’s that mean??

I don't know the answer, but for me if my 50 yr. old rifles shoot a 1 inch 3 shot group at 100 yds. I consider it acceptable accuracy.

Want to give many thanks to DLSJR and One Day. Wow, is all I can say. A little backstory-I did a N.M. oryx hunt last year and first thing when I arrived is the guide put my rifle in a 'deathgrip' type tripod. I had never shot off a tripod or sticks before. I tried it and didn't feel very...
