1969 FJ 40 Restoration

I assume that you are running the original F engine... or did you install the 2F?

It’s the original. Great engines, never understood the appeal of a V[emoji[emoji6]] conversion on an FJ.

V eight. Damn emojis!!!

Are you sure you’re not thinking of a Rover? Toyotas are not known for
Leak problems.
Yes they are i worked as a mechanic at a mine site in the early 60s we had some of the first Toyotas 4x4 in to Australia they leaked oil from the engine side plate. good vehicles the only competition was Land Rover & they leaked also.

Well, as I have mentioned previously, I have been in the process of a frame up restoration of a 1969 FJ 40 for a few years now. It is finally complete. View attachment 667296View attachment 667300View attachment 667301View attachment 667303
@WAB
The old FJ 40 and 45 are the last of the best Toyota's ever made. Go anywhere, agricultural in equipment and bomb proof.
After the FJ 45 Toyota went down hill in my book.
The only problem with the Toyota that I see is it isn't an old NISSAN PATROL. The old patrol had a 3 speed box plus 2H, 2L, 4H and 4L as well as a big beefy 6 cylinder that pulled harder than a horny teenager.
That 2 wheel drive low range was great in the Nissan

@rdog
Then Nissan had the patrols that ate Toyota's for breakfast and didn't leak oil.
The problem was those short wheel base model kicked like a drunken mule in rough country.

Hello there. I’ve been wanting to introduce myself personally & chat with you about hunting Nilgai. Give me a call sometime…

Best,

+1 Great to deal with. I purchased custom rifle. No issues.

I saw you were looking for some Swift A-Frames for your 9.3. I just bought a bulk supply of them in the 285g. version. If Toby's are gone, I could let 100 go for $200 shipped you are interested.
Thanks,
Gary

Booked with Harold Grinde - Gana River - they sure kill some good ones - who'd you get set up with?
