2024 Deer Season

Love the hog pics! Need help?
Man, we have had our ranch for over 20 years. No domestic pigs anywhere around us. We have sounders of pigs, that other than their tail straightening and tusks, look like domestic Hampshire pigs. While they get feral characteristics within a generation or two, I don’t think these will ever lose their markings. Granted, we have black/solid colored hogs as well, but plenty retain Hampshire characteristics. Lots of other random colored pigs too.

The 375 h&h took another one. Works great on these GA whitetail!

What deer load in your 375 H&H?

I've been using up some 300gr Federal PowerShok I had laying around. I'm not fond of using those bullets on bigger African stuff since they expand and deform rapidly (have Barnes TSX and solids for that), but for whitetail the PowerShok works fine.

Interesting...I wondered if you dropped down in bullet weight or just went to a different bullet type. Sounds like you stayed heavy but changed types.

I bought some Speer factory seconds when I first started shooting my .375. Common 270gr SPs. No special load development. Just the starting load of 76gr H4350 per the Speer load data. They’re accurate enough for express sights, easy shooting, and have been good on deer and pigs.

Congrats @bohannon, that’s a fine looking GA buck. I try and kill a couple of deer and pigs with my 375H&Hs every year down here in South Georgia. Works great and typically less meat damage than if I shoot them with faster, more traditional deer hunting caliber.

I use either 260 grain Accubonds or Nosler Partitions. I have them loaded by Safari Arms. I would feel comfortable out to 300 yards with this set up but most of my shots are 150 yards and in. I quite enjoy hunting with my 375H&Hs and helps keep me ready and familiar with them if I decide to bring them to Africa on a hunt.
