$25,000 in Africa excluding, flights, tips, and trophy shipment what would you do?

A buddy of mine went in the fall of 2023 on an end of season hunt. He cleaned the place out pretty well, sable, eland, leopard, did 8 or 9 trophies in his 14 days. Got really bloody sick, his wife and he are both nurses and she was able to get him going on an IV and fix him up.

I keep looking at Cabora Boss in Moz, but there are only a couple of species there.

Something in the jungle. Everybody hunts in the savannah, I would go for bongo or forest buffalo in Cameroon, Congo or CAR.
A giant forest hog hunt in Ethiopia would be interesting.

Ein richtig großer Keiler ist immer eine gute Wahl!
I don't know exactly what the pricing is, what would fit in the limit, but yes, this is also a good option for jungle hunting.

I’d throw in more cash and hunt elephant, or leopard with plains game for bait

Ja!

Another guy went to Ethiopia a few years ago, shot some kind of bushbuck, a Giant forest hog and and a Oreo-cookie colored monkey. I think it was a black and white colobus monkey. Was $25,000 3-4 years ago.

Maybe you could get a savannah or forest buffalo in Cameroon and four or five other species for that same money. The Lord Derby Eland and Bongo are $50,000 to show up hunts plus trophy fees.

Thank you, I have never experienced truly wild Africa outside of Djibouti and that was a war-zone so a bit different.

I was very interested in Mozambique on that big reservoir. Then I got told that the bag is basically 1 hippo and 1 croc and maybe a bushbuck if you give it hell and get really lucky.

It's not on the Cahorra Bassa, but you may wish to consider the Niassa in northeast Mozambique. This huge reserve has a number of operators in the different blocks that make up the reserve. @KWALATA SAFARIS, a sponsor here, had at least 3 AH members hunt there last year.

You can look up my report. There is also @AZDAVE and his wife @AZSonya that have theIR reports. And also a report from @ACM.

Plenty of buffalo and plains game. I mean a ridiculous amount of PG. The camp is right on the Lugenda river and is beautiful. If you're in camp midday, versus lunch in the bush, wildlife will pass thru camp down to the river to water. And it's as wild Africa as I think you will find. Can't say I've been to Tanzania to compare it to, but when you only see outside of the camp staff, the occasional anti-poaching crew a handful of people over the course of 10 days, you feel pretty remote.

That looks like a Perfect amount for Takeri reserve in Zambia. No Buffalo but a great Sable and other Zambian PG.Ten days. Sign me up!

Well…everyone says Buffalo and they are right
Someone wisely said Buffalo/Tuskless
Bang for your buck… it would be Zim almost certainly.
Then decide what else really appeals to you. Might be like a big Croc too or something
Me.. I’d probably lick an area with Good Buff… you will have Eland… Kudu Bushbuck..
Maybe Sable which I would rank very high
You can plan a nice safari on your budget
Good Luck!

$25k...
- Buffalo, tuskless or non-exportable ele in several places
- Sitatunga in Uganda or sitatunga and sable in Zambia
- if Russia opened, huge moose in Kamchatka
- red stag, tahr and chamois in New Zealand
- search for the biggest water buff and banteng in Australia Northern Territory and then go fishing!

Caprivi buffalo and eland. That should use most of the $25k. Then just take whatever the bush gives me the rest of the at least 14 day trip. Why the Caprivi? Because I’ve wanted to hunt there since reading about it in outdoor life as a little kid.

I would spend a few years looking for a buffalo deal, just like I am now. And go shoot two buffalos while borrowing someone’s double. lol
Elkeater plan is good too!

Buffalo
Sable
Gemsbok
Impala
Springbok
Zebra
I like your list. I would want to add an eland and maybe a kudu, warthog or bushbuck, but definitely the buffalo and sable cause I haven't hunted those yet. I could pass on the zebra and springbok but love the one time I took an impala and bushbuck. Besides the kudu, I really love hunting impala and bushbuck. Call me a simpleton (my wife does LOL) but I know what I enjoyed hunting on my one PG hunt.

A few more dollars and certainly add the Kudu. That list is Black Death/Black beauty, plus the iconic plains game.

Morning Rob, Any feeling for how the 300 H&H shoots? How's the barrel condition?

Hello. I see you hunted with Sampie recently. If you don't mind me asking, where did you hunt with him? Zim or SA? And was it with a bow? What did you hunt?

I am possibly going to book with him soon.
Currently doing a load development on a .404 Jeffrey... it's always surprising to load .423 caliber bullets into a .404 caliber rifle. But we love it when we get 400 Gr North Fork SS bullets to 2300 FPS, those should hammer down on buffalo. Next up are the Cutting Edge solids and then Raptors... load 200 rounds of ammo for the customer and on to the next gun!
