For your viewing pleasure.........A very early "nitro express" bolt action.
6.5x53R on the box.I can’t tell on the box. Is that 6.5 54 or 53R. Either way it’s a rifle I envy.
Blame the Brits: Like driving on the left, they measure between the lands (.256), while the rest of the world goes between the grooves (.264).6.5x53R on the box.
I was hoping this thread was on the 256 Gibbs, as I have one built on a Mannlicher action. But the 256 Gibbs Magnum is a rimless cartridge. It is, however, a .264 bore, not a .256 or .257.
That is a really cool rifle. What stories it might tell....

And it is indeed a pleasure to view . Magnificent !For your viewing pleasure.........A very early "nitro express" bolt action.

I think the 375 Flanged 2.5 inch case in the photo is the 303/ 375 cartridge used on Lee Speed sporting rifles . Based on the rimmed 303 cartridge . The 9.5x 57 ( 375) cartridge was different and used on Mannlicher Schonaeur rifles . For what it is worth this cartridge fired through the very light MS rifles is possibly the most unpleasant rifle I have ever fired . Prefer to shoot a 600NE any day .
