Respectfully I think your answer over simplifies and might be inaccurate. The powder burns quickly like in the first foot, but pressure and velocity continue to increase beyond 30 inches (in a case like this, obviously a 22 lr doesn't follow this rule).
You pick performance you're comfortable with in a gun that handles well without chasing the highest velocity possible.
Does anyone know how much barrel length is needed for a 375 H&H to burn all the powder?
If not, I bet Hornady would be happy to consult.
Personally, that would be my minimum length.
So all the way up to where the thick crosshair ends is barrel and can??
Very strange.....
On all my scoped rifles I dont see the barrel......including my Wannabe actioned 338 Lapua with a 30 1/2 inch barrel and a can on the front.......and no it is not a hunting rifle just a fun gun.....
No good for dg I can assure you......My view is similar when using a longer range scope such as a 3-15x42. I see very little of the barrel or can.
The picture i posted is using the 1x setting on a 1-6x. much wider FOV.
Fine as a client rifle, probably better as a client rifle than some little back up scope like an aim point or a RMR.No good for dg I can assure you......
I was not aware that scope picture had an impact on bullet impact or velocity.Aint gonna kill dg as quick as possible when the bottom half is barrel and can in the scope.....
Depends on the shooter some use only 1 eye.....irrespective.....how does one properly aim when the barrel and can is in the bottom half of your scope view????this is the problem for me anyway.....if others manage kudos to them I would not be able to.....especially on a dg rifle...Well, on 1x it's practically a red dot and should be used with both eyes open, no?

Some will say it depends on your hunting environment, anticipated shot distances, etc. My thought is 23” or 24” is perfect.I’ve got a BRNO .375 with the factory 25” barrel, plan is to have it cerakoted, synthetic stock & 3 position safety as an all weather rifle.
Question being, for you guys that have had several different barrel lengths of .375’s; what’s your preference on barrel length?
For a redneck living in the woods, from a Cajun redneck living in woods, appreciate your real-world data. Given cartridge bore/case ratio, 25 fps per inch seems the valid rule. Thanks. This was from one of my posts a while ago I shortened my cz550 Inch by inch
Experiment complete .... as non scientific as it may be I did put out the crony and knock an inch off at a time till I stopped at 21" this was my sweet spot for me personally
Honestly I thought I wanted it a inch or two shorter until I shot it a bit and used it and it just feels right so I stopped there
So with factory federal 300g rounds I lost exactly 100fps on several test rounds from 25" to 21" , it averaged 24-25fps on every inch I took off which I'll be honest I thought it would be and increasing curve as length was shortened instead of being equal amounts, not sure why my train of thought I'm just a dumb redneck that lives in the woods but I really thought the shorter I went the more it would lose per each inch and I was wrong!
For those of you that wanted numbers on shorter barrels I appologise I really expected me to like the shorter side of things but the rifle just fits and feels perfect to me I just can't keep whacking away I'm too attached to it now ... I was very very surprised at how exact my numbers were for the rounds used
Several test rounds started at 2599 fps and my ending numbers on 5 shots @ 21" 2 were 2499 exact so I believe it to be pretty justified answer for me on my particular gun ,
yall have a great day and thanks for all the knowldege I know these test have been done before so nothing new here but sometimes you gotta do it yourself and I do appreciate all the help and input
