Reto Buehler is building a .404J for me and has sent some photos of the work in progress. It is being built on a left handed Granite Mountain magnum Mauser 98 small ring with double square bridges. We chose this action for lightweight and it will be more than adequate for the low pressures generated by the .404J. It will be scoped with a Leupold VX6 1-6X with illuminated #4 illuminated reticle on Reto's QD mounts. I am promised delivery before this summer. For further eye candy, google Buehler Custom Sporting Arms.

Buehler makes some gorgeous rifles, especially that English Express .404J! Pretty sure I couldn't afford it though. Good luck. Can't wait to see the completed rifle!!!

I can't wait either! There was a delay of about a year getting the action from Granite Mountain, but with Covid I had to put Tanzania on hold anyway, so no harm, no foul.

Reto does wonderful work and is a pleasure to work with.

Couldn't help myself...had to go back to the web site and look again....WOW.

He is only 70 miles away and I have a spot reserved for a rifle build for this time next year. Single shot rifle on a Hagn action is what I am thinking at the moment.

Mike, maybe when I am over there next, I'll stop and slobber on your gun build for you! I'd get pictures to share with everyone. :)

All the best,
Randy

Thanks, Randy!

Most of the ACGG members I have traditionally worked with have retired, but they all suggested Reto as a fine gunmaker. He does it all. A very likeable guy, too.

I spent an hour with him around the first of the year. Had a great time visiting and getting to know him. I left a gun blank with him and he told me he wouldn't look at again for a year! That's fine, it will give me that much time to change my mind a dozen times. Today, my desire is a single shot rifle on a Hagn action, probably in .280 Ackley Improved. Next week it could be something else.
I look forward to seeing photos of your gun. Depending on when you pick it up, perhaps you could swing my direction for a 404 Jeff squirrel shoot.

Thank you all for the positive comments. Spoke to Reto yesterday and he is starting on the stock. May delivery anticipated.

Here is a midterm update on the ,404 Jeffery. Reto sent me a couple photos. Minimal engraving, no cheek piece, extended tangs - looking for 9-1/4 lbs. with the Leupold VX6HD 1-6X with no.4 reticle and Fire Dot. Barrel is 23". Will have a jeffery folding ghost ring rear sight.

trperk1, I bought the Kimber Caprivi 375 back in an earlier post. You attached a target with an impressive three rounds touching 100 yards. I took the 2x10 VX5 off and put a VX6 HD Gen 2 1x6x24 Duplex Firedot on the rifle. It's definitely a shooter curious what loads you used for the group. Loving this rifle so fun to shoot. Africa 2026 Mozambique. Buff and PG. Any info appreciated.

Hello:
I’ll take the .375 Whitworth for $1,150 if the deal falls through.
Thanks .
