Something to be aware of, you need to watch the shoulder position of the cartridge, magazines often have a rib in them to stop the cartridge they were designed for moving forward, this may stop the longer shoulder position of the 416 from fitting in or interfere with feeding, they can be modified, but not always and it will depend upon your metal working skills

I will likely have a better understanding of your information once I get the Accurate-Mag bottom metal and magazine and can then do some basic test runs

Did you happen to notice the screen capture that I uploaded several pictures back?
Its of the Accurate-Mag website where they listed their .338 Lapua Magazine.

There is a drop-down selection box for the options of "Overall Length"

The options to choose from are as follows:
1) 3.715
2) 3.775
3) 3.850

I dont know why there would be 3 choices of length unless maybe there is a common situation of manufactures or reloaders who use abnormal length and grain bullets which makes the rounds longer than the standard OAL for a .338 Lapua Magnum

Can you tell me what those choices would be for, and do you have any input on what choice is best for my particular situation of going to be trying to use that 338 Lapua Mag magazine for a 416 Rem Mag

The .338 Lapua Mag has an OAL of 3.68" and the .416 Rem Mag has an OAL of 3.6"

That would just be for people who custom load to the maximum length to suit the projectile chosen, and how the chamber is cut ( throat etc) Shortest would be factory loaded ammunition, in the picture that shows the mag from an angle you can see the groove I’m referring too, this forms a dent on the inside of the mag body to stop the ammunition moving forward, that is the bit that could cause issues, don’t know if it will without trying it, just something to think about.

The measurement in blue is the approximate position of the mag inside ridge to stop movement, the bit in red shows the rem case is smaller at the shoulder, but that measurement is 1/4 inch further forward on the rem case

I definitely see what you mean, and so for now I searched and found some close up images of the .338 Lapua magazine and trying to compare the .416 Rem Mag's bottle neck to the follower and feed lips to see if there's a likely problem with it not holding the 416 Rem Mag in a proper location.

So far I'm not see anything significant on the follower or feed lips but I'm not saying its not there... I know you're right about there likely being something that would need to hold the cartridge in position, but its just difficult to see more detail from the images of the 338 Lapua magazine.

Yeah, looks like I will just need to wait until next week when I can order the Accurate-Mag bottom metal and magazine, and then wait for it to get delivered to then do actual test runs to see how all the parts interacts with each other.

The following couple pictures are some of the best angles I could find to help show if there are any areas of the follower or feed lips that make direct interaction with the area of the bottle neck in the cartridge:

ORDER AND DELIVERY UPDATE: ACCURATE-MAG BOTTOM METAL AND MAGAZINE

On March 1st I place the order for the Savage bottom metal and 338 Lapua 3-round magazine, and I made CERTAIN to choose UPS for shipping even though it cost more to go with them.

Today I received the notification from Accurate-Mag that my order is processed and UPS is in possession of them.
Tracking is saying will be delivered this Thursday the 6th .... cool cool cooooool !

I also got the actions screws delivered,
and starting to look like the USPS LOST MY PACKAGE AGAIN !!!
The recoil lug been saying "In Transit To Next Destination" for the past 5 days!

Did anyone else also see Louis DeJoy (Postmaster General and Chief Executive Officer) of the USPS when he had to appear before congress 2 months ago?
He literally held his hands over his ears like a toddler, denied any incompetence, and blamed their extremely poor service on everything and everyone but himself and anyone else at the USPS
