416 Rigby & 400gr North Forks

That's rockin along for a 450gr bullet. I'm sure that's got some serious "swat" on the receiving end, both directions. My thinking was to try H4350 since the powder charge is a little less to help mitigate some of the recoil, however it may be a moot point.

Have you taken any Buffalo or other dangerous game with the 450gr Woodleigh? Are you regulated both for softs and solids in 450gr?

I haven't seen much of anything available from Woodleigh since the shop fire. Northforks are available from Reloading International.
I have only taken paper targets with the 450's. They are at my recoil tolerance level. The H4350, though a quicker powder produces noticeable less felt recoil and certainly not as sharp.

My 410 grain Woodleigh SP and 400 grain Hydros print to the same point of impact at 100mts and everything in between. Woodleigh are up and running again but I figure it will take some time to get every thing restock around the world. Go with the Northfork's if they are available.

First off, I’m using a falling block single shot for these 416 rds, but I don’t crimp for anything anyway, gas gun, bolt or single shot. Neck tension has always held the bullets in place, never had a problem across all rifle platforms. These loads are more than accurate enough for what I want from them.

A quick search resulted in a ton of threads in AHF on crimping, including one 2 months ago on crimping 416 Rigby. Many will go to their grave for and against crimping. I simply don’t.

I’m taking some 400 grain North Fork bonded soft points to try this summer on buffalo along with some 450 grain Woodleighs for my 416 Rigby.

I saw you were looking for some Swift A-Frames for your 9.3. I just bought a bulk supply of them in the 285g. version. If Toby's are gone, I could let 100 go for $200 shipped you are interested.
Thanks,
Gary
