458 Lott Suppressor

Do you have to hand in your man card with the application for a big bore silincer?

Just asking for a friend :p:LOL:
It’s funny all the talk about not using a muzzle brake for the sake of the ph. But the opposite side, using a suppressor for the sake of the ph, never gets talked about.

My guess is they almost universally would want all their clients to use them.

I've used suppressors on every plains game hunt I have participated in with calibers up to 375 H&H. The PH's all encouraged it and were certainly happy we had them along.

On my dangerous game hunts the same PH's seemed to prefer no suppressors. Most of us used double rifles and it wasn't an option, but those that had threaded barrels were encouraged to use thread protectors. No muzzle break, No suppressor.

I hunt primarily suppressed when I can, but it does influence the rifle I use. Trying to add a suppressor to a 24-26 inch barrel is not practical and changes the balance of the rifle. If you are realistically going to hunt with a suppressed rifle you will be looking at maximum of a 20 inch barreled rifle which means your favorite trusty rifle you have used for the last 20 years is relegated to the safe. Not everyone is ready to do that.

I lost my man card back when I got my muzzle brake. I actually got it back when I got the silencer because I was doing something positive for the people hunting with me.

The big benefit with the silencer is the noise reduction for both me and the people I am hunting with rather than recoil reduction. While I feel the brake offers more recoil reduction, I won't use a brake while hunting

From what I have seen, buffaloes don't like suppressors, they need loud talking to when things go wrong, not whispers :D :D:LOL:

Highjack over
I still considering it a sin however :ROFLMAO:
