I have decided.to purchase a double rifle so I will be posting a few rifles and some components for sale. Here is the first.
This is a California build. I have ordered the floor plate that allows you to hold three in the magazine and if you buy the rifle I'll sent it to you or we can just call weatherby and have them mail it to you. I have original weatherby FL die set and a Redding neck sizing set. Wood stock is bedded for the rifle. The fibergalss is the one it came from the custom shop in. It has original rear sight with it as well as the pic rail and the standard Warne 2 piece scope base. The NECG aperture does not.go with it but can be discussed if.you really want it. There is 80 pieces of new unfired brass and 20 once fired. I have some other too but it has had a few firings. I have 200 Woodleigh 500gr PSP and 50 Woodleigh 500gr solids as well as 65 500gr. Swift A Frames. It has detachable factory Accubrake. The wood stock has some scuffs, it is definitely a working gun. Shoots and feeds well and is quite accurate. I can supply lots of load data for various projectiles. $3200 takes the whole package. I will not sell the brass or projectiles separate unless the rifle sell first. Feel free to PM me and we can talk on the phone if you have a particular deal in mind

Oh no! I thought you were all in on the 460?

I guess just when you think you're getting cozy with one you get tempted by another. That's just how big bores go. If I may ask, what are you looking to move to? Expecting nothing less than 600 OK

That's quite a fine package that will make someone happy.

I have wanted a double forever and finally decided I would try to sell several rifles and components and make it happen. I would say for the sake of component and ammo availability very possibly a 470 Nitro but not sure. I will definitely miss this rifle. She has been all kinds of fun but I really truly would love to hunt with a double one time.

I can definitely sympathize with the double itch.

Heard it said many times by people with much more experience than me: a 450/400 should be the first double you buy and the last that you sell. But I'm kind of like you, would have a hard time not going for something a little bigger; say 470 NE or 500 NE.

Best of luck getting to one and taking it on a DG hunt.

Great looking rifle.

On the double did you consider building it in a 460 Weatherby, or are you going to go with a stock one?

I'll go with a stock one. As I understand it rimless cartridges arent ideal for doubles. At least that's what I've been told, plus if you're gonna go old school might as well go all the way, or as much as you can afford anyway.

That's what I'm looking at, I'm researching the reloading set up for thode bigger cases now. I run a Dillon 550 and I think I may have to buy a separate single stage press to load them. Probably gonna go 470 I believe unless a 416 or 500 happens across.my path that I just can't pass up

won't it bother you having less Sectional Density and less power?
Wonder what could be gotten out of the 450 NE with modern powders, same .458 bullets at that point, great sectional density...

Anyways, good luck with all this, should be great getting a double in hand.

Too bad one of the OZ hunters couldn't get it shipped there? With the water buffalo, scrub bulls and Banteng bulls in their NW Territory, it would be ideal.

It is a hammer. I'm not gonna be too mad if I end up keeping it. I got my new 416 today and it feels like shooting a 30/06 after a few months of.practicing with the 460. The ole' weatherby may still make the trip to Zimbabwe with me yet.

Ro

Roger that. I’ll check it out
I’ve got a Lee Classic that handles my 450#2 cartridges very well. As far as the double goes - as it’s been said before - it’s best to get a well made and reliable rifle in an odd caliber than a common caliber in a not so well made rifle. Your skin may depend upon that one day.

I have not heard that saying before but I would say that is some wise advice there!

I saw you were looking for some Swift A-Frames for your 9.3. I just bought a bulk supply of them in the 285g. version. If Toby's are gone, I could let 100 go for $200 shipped you are interested.
Thanks,
Gary

Booked with Harold Grinde - Gana River - they sure kill some good ones - who'd you get set up with?
