9.3 X62 brass and bullet powder recommendation

The interlocks have dropped everything I’ve shot with them from wild boar, whitetail, axis deer, bison, with one shot. They are pretty good bullets.

Sorry, I have not. The North Fork shot great right away so I stopped there. Have heard many people have good luck with the a-frame though.

Here are photos of the Aframes I recovered from eland. First two shots were well over 200yards, last shot I hit front leg and into heart. It was around 200yards as well.

I have used both Privi and Norma brass and found both to be excellent. I have used Norma Vulcan bullets and Nosler partitions and everything I hit goes bang flop so I have not recovered a slug so far.

I’ve shot the A frames at 2500 fps. Not as accurate as the hornadys but a much tougher bullet that I wouldn’t hesitate under the right conditions to use on buffalo.

If you are looking for the best cartridge cases, to me they are the RWS. Little less capacity, not a big issue, but truly great in ALL other aspects. I have used them in 7x57, 375 and 9,3x62. None better compared with the other I have. They are more expensive, indeed. NORMA came second from the lots I have. Remington behaves the same as NORMA. Good cases also these Remington.

Your 232 Oryx performance looks impressive. Can you share some details about your "light" load used with this bullet?

Light load was Varget 53.0. Nosler has 250accubonds using Varget minimum load at 52.5, max at 56.5. The 232 with 53.0 were averaging 2277 in my rifle. I only have 5-6 left in the box, I just don’t use them. I had them for my son to shoot, he is only 13. I would use a heavier/faster load even for him now. Although it was very accurate! Use this load at your own risk, I don’t know your rifle or what it typically does with other loads. I use big game in heavier bullets. I have some test loads ready to try now using 250grain swift aframes. Just to see what they will do

So the wildebeest hunt with him was a hurried stalk that only the PH and my son took. I wasn’t there but watched listened from a distance, and could only see part of the clearing the wildebeest were in. Son and PH stalked closer. Didn’t see them all way, but was looking when they shot. I didn’t see wildebeest when he took first shot, but luckily they came running into sight after first shot. I could see the bull limping behind rest of herd. I thought to myself, what the hell is he doing shooting that far! It was a really long shot, but I guess they were out of cover to stalk closer. When it stopped he shot again, and then it was limping even more. Third shot knocked it down. The second and third shots were well over 200 yards, and I was a little upset because he is an awesome shot, but he didn’t have rangefinders and didn’t adjust the CDS dial, even if using what distance PH told him. A lesson learned. I learned a lot last year. The 9.3 isn’t a super great long range round, and when shooting further out it’s still very useful, but you need to know and use the CDS dial! The last shot was closer to just end it quickly. As in probably 50ish?? yards away. I had moved up when I saw it fall, and saw them come out of cover. I moved to where they were and I was watching from his original shot location with bino when he took finishing shot. I saw gun recoil and animal reacted as I heard the shot report. That’s a pretty good distance

Used Lapua Mega factory ammo this past summer in South Africa (285 gr bullets) using a Ruger African. Longest shot was on a lechwe - 265 yds. Great ammo and great brass to reload with.

What is everyone getting for brass life, I'd think if staying to book pressures brass life will be pretty good. Using 06 brass or Hornady don't think I'd want to go past 2 or 3 firings.

For non-hunting loadings (practice loads) I'd be disappointed if I didn't get 10 reloads out of my brass. To accomplish that, I primarily neck size only, and anneal the necks every 3rd go-around. I also don't hot-rod my loads either.

For hunting loads however, I do the same brass preparation, but I either use new brass or I full-length resize brass.

Oh, yea - I only use 9.3x62mm brass. I have brass from all the usual suspects except RWS. Pretty much any brand will do.
