AH Get Together Anchorage Alaska 2015

Yeah thanks Paul, my wife and I both had a good time. But I was leafing through the pictures and noticed that rifle and that's a real beauty

Hi Sierraone,

I think this is a great idea.
The store is Cabela's Anchorage about smack half way between my house and the airport.
There is also now a Bass Pro store in Anchorage, not to mention some interesting small gun shops in town that occasionally have a hidden treasure or two on the used rack.

And I appreciate the hotel thing.
My house ends up being a bed and breakfast lunch & dinner a bit too often sometimes and I think my wife gets over exposed with multiple waves of company living here in shifts each summer.
Sometimes people can stay here for a couple nights, no problem and other times, she gets worn out.

She had a great time with the AH Get Together here, because the next day she was able to sleep in a bit, not worry about putting on makeup, messing around with her hair, etc., then just come down stairs in her robe and slippers to enjoy the gourmet breakfast that I prepared for her of microwaved pizza and hot coffee, heh heh.

The Safari Bar is ready when you are,
Paulo Dog.

Yes, I was thinking hotel, not staying at your house. I'm guessing that part of the time there Bob and I would be running around looking for that treasure you mentioned and maybe drive out into the country side for a few hours one day. A meet and greet with you and the wife, a few hours at your range and of course a rock fish fry or restaurant. With a good credit card and good looks, (my cc and Bob's good looks), true wonders can happen!!!

Excellent, I will look forward to yours and Bob's triumphant arrival at some point down the road.

Paul you can always send the pics to me and ill upload them for you.

Matt,

I do not mind writing about things because I have the gift of gab.
However, next time I probably will either ask someone who knows what they're doing to just be the official photographer of the party and to then post their work or at least I can email my photos to you or someone to post for me as I am clearly not especially good with computers.
They simply have too many confusing options like grains of sand on a beach, which seem to serve no other purpose than to confuse any minimalist / old folks like myself (I don't even like variable power rifle scopes, too many options, LOL).

"Upload, download, drag your mouse, left click twice, left click once, right click/left click, blah, blah, infinite tedium, ad nauseaum."
It all just goes to show that you can't teach an old Velo Dog new tricks.

In other news, in the photos you will see one of Cal narrowly escaping the giant octopus of Rabbit Creek by dodging into our safety cage just ahead of the beast.
This happened when we put a wet suit and scuba gear on Cal, then sent up to the surface for more olives.
If Cal was not such a powerful swimmer, we might have lost him that night.

Anyway, right above that hair raising photo, you will see one of your glass of Whiskey (already half gone you will notice), in proximity with the .500 Jeffery as requested.
I trust your spirit enjoyed Spey Cast Scotch, I know that my spirit surely has enjoyed it from time to time.

Cheers,
Grumpy Old Cave Man out.

Went to an SCI dinner once.
I concluded that it was not my thing.
No disrespect toward those who are drawn to tape measures, trophy record books and such but, it's just not anything I'm interested in.
However, I would enjoy meeting the other chaps for sure.
Definitely will not make it this year but, perhaps some other time.
Thanks for inviting me though.

So were there any security guards or police officers called to this wing ding?

I definitely will not make Dallas this year either. For me SCI is too far and too expensive. Even Las Vegas doesn't attract me, don' care about gambling. I am considering the European show in Dortmund, Germany in February, the Jagd and Hund, the biggest hunt and fishing show in Europe as far as I can tell.. I can make the whole trip including air and hotel from Kosovo for around $525 at today's exchange rate. At this time still waiting on the EU to decide how long this mission will last. (the longer the mission the more money!) I am hoping at least until next September, but it's still undecided at this time. They are as bad about making a decision as the U.S. Congress is!

o_O why me?? remember its a certain mr jacques s----r that causes security to be called...........:E Big Grin:

Yesser, we gathered at my house on Saturday Oct 24th.
My basement is converted into a pub - "The Safari Bar, Proudly Serving Whatever You Bring".
Photos of some of the party are posted in this thread, one or two pages back.
I neglected to take any photos upstairs where the women folk and 2 or 3 of the men folk spent most of the evening.
Evidently rubbish left over from the party smelled pretty good, because a bear large enough to crush a section of my 6 foot chain link fence, climbed over and feast on the contents of my trash can.
Bears climb over my fence from time to time each year but, they have never damaged it until now (see photos).
Since my wife and I were both home, we did not have our security cameras recording and I regret that very much because he must've been a whale of a bear to ruin chain link like that.
Very sure he was a black bear as his paw print shows no claw marks in the wet earth (see photo).
Grizzly sometimes visit us but, I have not known them to climb my fence (their claws are shaped wrong for scaling chain link fencing) however, one did break open my gates accidently while chasing a rabbit that went under and the bear when through - LOL.

You should have called 9-1-1 on that fat ass Bear

HE is going to need 911 assistance, if he continues to smash down my fence.

Currently doing a load development on a .404 Jeffrey... it's always surprising to load .423 caliber bullets into a .404 caliber rifle. But we love it when we get 400 Gr North Fork SS bullets to 2300 FPS, those should hammer down on buffalo. Next up are the Cutting Edge solids and then Raptors... load 200 rounds of ammo for the customer and on to the next gun!
To much to political shit, to little Africa :-)
Spending a few years hunting out west then back to Africa!

Hello. If you haven't already sold this rifle then I will purchase. Please advise. Thank you.

I doubt you are interested in any trades but I was getting ready to list a Sauer 404 3 barrel set in the 10-12 price range if your interested. It has the 404J, 30-06 and 6.5 Creedmoor barrel. Only the 30-06 had been shot and it has 7 rounds through it as I was working on breaking the barrel in. It also has both the synthetic thumbhole stock and somewhere between grade 3-5 non thumbhole stock
