Our daughter got us tickets on Delta at around $2,100 each, Pensacola Florida- Atlanta- Johanasburg. Cattle class.
it's a little bit of a pain for sure; I've transported guns through Canada before, but your paperwork had better be in order! lolyup. Airfare is up across the board these days. Vancouver is temping unless traveling with a firearm.
Wow! I want to know your secret on airfares as they seem VERY low? FULL airfare, no flight miles or comps used? June 2022, I paid $2500 cattle class booking 6 months out on Qatar through DEN/DFW/DOH/JNB. Everyone else in the group paid around $1800 when first available. It was $8K for me if I had wanted a Q Suite, $5K for those that did when first available. Delta's schedule was sporadic at best during this time towards the end of Covid. With Delta you wouldn't know if you could get a return flight home due to rampant cancellations. Here are the ones I could find receipts for. There’s a bunch of internal African flights as well to/from JNB
May 2021 - $1384 Prem Economy IAH/DOH/JNB on Qatar
June 2022 - $960 Economy DFW/ATL/JNB and JNB/DXB/DFW on Delta/Emirates (Status Upgrade to Comfort+)
July 2022 - $1020 Economy DFW/DOH/WDH on Qatar
May 2023 - $1036 Prem Economy IAH to Jburg on British Airways (upgraded to Business with status and systemwide upgrades)
November 2023 - $1847 Prem Economy DFW/DOH/LUN/HRE (avois upgrade to Q-Suite one way) on Qatar
I set google flight alerts and monitor. I've also paid much more than that and used miles to book other trips like 2024. Generally I use miles/status to upgrade rather than using it to book the flight.Wow! I want to know your secret on airfares as they seem VERY low? FULL airfare, no flight miles or comps used? I’ve flown DFW to RSA on BA with firearms. It’s possible to do. Make sure all legs of your flight are on British Airways planes. If there’s an American to British, code share that’s where you’ll run into issues with the guns. They consider that a carrier swap and won’t change the guns over.Since Covid we started flying business class it was such a great price Qatar around $3,800 per through last June . We even let our grandson fly up front for that price. He kept the business class flight attendants busy . Nice lounge for layover as well .
I guess it’s like how drug dealers offer a low price until you’re hooked . There is nothing like a flat bed with full size pillows and your own space . You almost look forward to getting on the plane to relax and get some rest .
This year flying in May United , Qatar and Emirates all about the same price $6,800 Dallas to JNB . Amer and BA not an option because we’re bringing guns and they both stop in England. So we chose Emirates due to the best itinerary . Plus haven’t flown with them before and they have a walk up bar on board .
I don’t think I can ever go back to economy again . I just feel so much better when I arrive having slept soundly for a good portion of the flight .
You have to try it once , but be ware it’s very addictive!

Well that figures . I thought our first flight was an A380 but no both legs 777. Way to kill my hopes and dreams !The bar is on the A380’s not the B777’s. No problem with guns at Heathrow, it’s just expensive.
