I am interested in bowhunting for Ocellated Turkey and Brockett deer.

Has anyone gone on a hunt for these? Please share your experience and if you have a recommendation for who to contact. I know the main areas are in the Yucatan. I have not heard of much at least for Ocellated in Guatemala or Belize?

WTA always has a couple of Ocellated hunts on their site. I think the Outfitters are in Campeche. I'd like to do one of those hunts the next couple of years.
I'd feel comfortable booking through them, knowing that the Outfitter has been vetted.

I do wonder how thorough those hunt brokers really vet every outfit

Peninsula Hunters, Mario Camara. They have an incredible operation. +1 (210) 322-4425.
I just got back from there and got greybrown and a red brocket. The guy likely gets his clients more red brockets that any other outfitter ever. He has a good team also which I think helps. Super nice camp for being in the middle of the jungle.

Would like to see some pictures!

You can put some here or share on a new hunt report thread

Im hunting goulds in a couple weeks with El Halcon. They also have a Ocellated Turkey and Brockett deer camp in Yucatan. Friend of mine hunted the ocellated with them last year, everyone in camp got at least one bird.

I've always wanted to do one of these hunts. The Yucatan and Quintana Roo were famously safe States that have recently become infested with the cartells. I'd like to know if these regions are presently safe for hunting tourism or if they have become high risk?

I was there a month ago and didn’t have a single issue and never felt uneasy. I landed in Cancun, was picked up by the outfitter and We drove 6 hours south to the jungle. It was a great experience and I’ll go back again soon to focus on turkeys. I wouldn’t hesitate to go again.

I was planning to do this hunt with WTA for next year. Only had to wait for next years dates. In the meantime a good deal came by and I booked another totally different hunt so this will be postponed a couple of years.

WTA bought Balam Outfitters, they operate in the Yucatan jungle. I wrote them but WTA responded. Communication was good. The trophy fees for the different brocket deer are quite high but they make wonderful trophies.

Good luck deciding!

trperk1, I bought the Kimber Caprivi 375 back in an earlier post. You attached a target with an impressive three rounds touching 100 yards. I took the 2x10 VX5 off and put a VX6 HD Gen 2 1x6x24 Duplex Firedot on the rifle. It's definitely a shooter curious what loads you used for the group. Loving this rifle so fun to shoot. Africa 2026 Mozambique. Buff and PG. Any info appreciated.
Ready for the hunt with HTK Safaris

Hello:
I’ll take the .375 Whitworth for $1,150 if the deal falls through.
Thanks .
