Anyone run a muzzle brake-suppressor combo on a .375?

My PH loaned me one for my safari in Namibia in September. I guarantee the PH, tracker, and non-target animals were all glad I chose to use one.

I’m looking at having him purchase one for my Blaser R8 in 375 for my next trip that I would leave with him. With a 23 in barrel, it is the same length as a typical bolt action with a 20 in barrel. The suppressor I am looking at is a reflex style that only adds 4 in barrel length and 2-3 over the barrel. Should be a very well balanced, usable rifle.

My grandfather’s had hearing aids, my father uses hearing aids and why anyone would be against using suppressors is beyond me.
Depending upon what model your PH purchases for you it will cost right around what us Americans pay for the "tax stamp" alone never mind the cost of the supressor. Enjoy your hunt your way !!!!!

They do both, a suppressor both mitigated sound as well as legends recoil. Ass opposed to a lot of the " know it all's" on this site my PH purchased a suppressor for me (leave it there as opposed to taking mine). It is a direct thread mou t and has a muzzle brake forward of the suppressor body. Those that don't like either (purists) will no doubt try to dissuade you from using either. It's your hunt do what you want, aim small and keep your powder dry !!!!
I neglected to entertain the break on the end of suppressor models. I wonder how effective that end break is and how it affects the sound signature. I am well aware of the recoil and noise mitigation properties of brakes and suppressors. They are definitely effective.

I was more looking for the entire intended meaning of @Challer 's post.

In the future, if you wish to admonish the "know-it-alls," you would be wise to do so whilst employing both proofreading and spell checking. :A Tease::A Stirring:

Just curious if anyone runs a muzzle brake-suppressor combo on a .375 H&H?

I know a few exist as modular units together from the same manufacturer intended to run together, I've seen a muzzle brake from one company and a suppressor from another company used together.

I'd love your experience and recommendations.
I thought about it myself after my shoulder turned black and blue from range shooting. When I got to Africa, I shot buffalo four times and couldn't remember feeling anything......

They work well. Remember the blast has already left the suppressor so you get the same sound suppression you get with a suppressor without the break. It does redirect the blast laterally (which is its purpose) so you do get some of the concussion of a brake. But much less than a traditional brake with no suppressor.

Interesting concept. I should have to find a video that compares the three setups. That sounds very interesting indeed.

That seems not to be entirely correct. See eg my earlier post:

Thunder Beast now makes a 375 caliber suppressor with or without a muzzle brake.

"The way I read the data, for a .338 LM caliber, 338 Ultra-RR, one gets a reduction in sound at shooters ear from 137 to 134 db using a sup+brake and down to 132 db using only sup. Makes sense to me that a bit added sound with brake, but still half the noise (3 db is half).
Recoil is reduced by 32% using sup only and by 54% using sup+brake."

And applying the same logic about the blast having left the suppressor, the same would apply to the blast having left the pibe. But the reality is that the brake enhances the sound after it has left whereever it comes from.

It doesn’t enhance the sound, it just directs it more posteriorly than if it leaves the suppressor and shoots out for.

It is a bit of semantics. There is zero arguing that once the blast is left the suppressor it has modified the sound completely, whether it then goes through a break or not. A break cannot amplify the sound, it can only change its direction.

Ah, yes, perhaps no added sound as such, but it is louder for the hunter's ears, and the neighbors.

Hello there. I’ve been wanting to introduce myself personally & chat with you about hunting Nilgai. Give me a call sometime…

Best,

+1 Great to deal with. I purchased custom rifle. No issues.

I saw you were looking for some Swift A-Frames for your 9.3. I just bought a bulk supply of them in the 285g. version. If Toby's are gone, I could let 100 go for $200 shipped you are interested.
Thanks,
Gary
