This note is for the new guys, those thinking of their first trip to hunt Africa.

Africa Hunting dot com (AH) regulars read every couple of months of someone who “won” their first Africa hunt at a SCI or DSC auction. Some of those bargain hunts turn out to not be quite the bargain the winning bidder had anticipated.

I write this to state that twice (2021 and 2022) I’ve been to Talley Ho. When Stuart Williams says “all inclusive”, you can bet your life on it! He may have his equals in South African safari outfitter, but one cannot find any better.

This offer is an excellent first hunt.
  • 2 IMPALA – These are warm up, target practice with a fine rifle
    • Impala would be difficult with a bow!
  • 1 STEENBOK OR DUIKER – Small and hard to spot and shoot!
  • 1 BLUE WILDEBEEST – Wild-e-beest never, ever stop moving. Getting a shot at them requires hard hunting! Plus, they are buffalo tough! Hard to kill…
  • 1 BLESBUCK OR SPRINGBUCK OR ZEBRA – Take the zebra since they are herd animals with each of a dozen or two being on lookout for you! They are not horses, rather zebra are wild and will kill you if somehow you get too close. But getting close to a zebra is freeking hard!
  • 1 JACKAL OR MONKEY OR BABOON –
    • Monkeys are easy, baboons are not!
    • Baboons are smart, super smart, mean, and tricky. The only easy shot on a baboon would be to lug along a half minute of angle capable target rifle and smack one at 600 or more yards!
    • Jackal would be a trophy! I know that Talley Ho has a .303 with top of the line thermal sight that would be almost necessary to bag a jackal.
Whoever buys this hunt package, if I know Stuart, one could add other animals to it.
  • Lots of giraffe at Talley Ho
  • Warthogs, I love hunting warthogs!
  • Kudu, yup there are lots of kudu
  • Buffalo, big ones!

For you and perhaps your family;
  • The food is 4 to 5-star every meal thanks to Mr. Kharen the chef.
  • Talley Ho was nice chalets if you want to bring along your better half. They also have a family-size chalet if one brings their children.
  • There is an air conditioned lounge / family room with cable (satellite (?)) television and a pool.

After being with me on a not-so-pleasant elephant hunt in Zimbabwe and at Talley Ho, my darling wife told me she would happily accompany me again to Talley Ho but NOT to Zim… Toward that, I also asked Stuart to host along with my wife and I, my sister and family. Stuart and his team rolled out the red carpet for all of us. I could not have asked for better!

Here are links to my 2-phased hunt in 2022 with Stuart and his full-time Professional Hunter (PH) Rudi Nell.

Chopped up the whole thing as I kept hitting the 240 character limit...
Found out the trigger word in the end... It was muzzle or velocity. dropped them and it posted.:)
