I cant speak for the rest of the world, and understand that's partially what this thread is about, but I can definitely say financial irresponsibility is an epidemic in the USA and "if you want it bad enough" is absolutely spot on. Could go on for hours, but will leave it at that.I have to disagree with you on that, I own a Dakota 76 416 Remington Magnum, a 470 double, and I'm planning my first cape buffalo hunt for June. I make well under $100,000 a year and I'm definitely not part of the 1% but if you want something bad enough you can make it happen!
I'm sure an R8 is out of the budget of many new PHs, but you definitely dont need $10k to buy one and lots of PHs have guns that cost the same or more than an R8.
This is an old thread so I've probably already given my .02 but I'll do it again and bet that, as much as I love my R8, at least for DG PHs, the speed and redundancy of a double cant be beat. Nothing faster with 3 or 4 shots than an R8, but you're only likely to get 1-2 when things get real fast and close and nothing beats a double for that
