Bob Nelson convinced me - 35 Whelen

My wife took the 35 this morning and used a 200 grain shock hammer.

The shot was about 125 yards, down hill, entered late but exit beautifully. I have yet to inspect the carcass. Speed at muzzle was 2835 across the chronograph.

The 260 was finally used tonight with 117 grain Shock Hammers. I'll also post in the appropriate thread but here is "Katie" with her first critter.

Victor wanted to cull a few springbok and this was the first. I tried to use Bob on the second but missed!

Our hunt is now over. Tomorrow we leave for 3 days at Plettenberg Bay.

@hunting Gold
Well done to your darling wife.
Goes to show the Whelen is a very manageable rifle to shoot unlike @CoElkHunters fire breathing kicker in 338WM
Looking forward to your hunt report mate.
Bob

Booked with Harold Grinde - Gana River - they sure kill some good ones - who'd you get set up with?

That's a wrap, on our first hunt of this years season.

Hunting conditions are a bit tougher in South Africa during the month of February, but can be just as rewarding if done right.
