I talked to them about it earlier today and have been vacillating about it all afternoon and decided to pull the trigger (poor pun) this evening. Sorry

Not pissed at you but am going Josey Wales and living by the feud. Will never spend another dime at Bass Pro/Cabelas. I can act like a 3 year old at times.

And yes, I plan to use it. I have my first trip planned for pg game in the spring to get my feet wet. Then intend to plan a buffalo trip in 25. Gives me some time to get used to shooting it and work up a good load for it.

I use the Boyt soft takedown shotgun case to carry my second barrel and scope. That way when I am hunting plainsgame and see a Buffalo I can easily swap out. Thats exactly what happened on the Nile Buffalo in Uganda.

Thanks. I am excited. I have a 375 Ruger, so I am curious to see the difference in recoil. But the Ruger is pretty light. This has a little more heft, and I am not generally too recoil adverse.

Call Cabelas back, don't accept talking to anyone bar the Big Boss. Lay out your complaint and demand the offending clerk/whoever is given the push: Feet on the Street, arse on the grass by the day's end. Accept NOTHING less, and written/emailed proof, even if it's the Boss' son.

Man, I wouldn’t want to see him lose his job. He wasn’t knowledgeable at all and likely just started. He didn’t know what length of pull was when we started talking. He seemed like a nice guy and bet someone else in the department sold the gun. I will rack it up to poor training. He was very cordial, went in the back to see if there was a case, and measured LOP after I explained what I wanted measured. Did I get screwed because of his incompetence? Absolutely. I think his ignorance is to blame-not ill intention. The guy screwed up. I got too pissed about a gun in an interesting offering, but will move on. . I hope they use it as a teachable moment, and nobody else gets screwed.

Blood pressure is getting back to baseline, but with all of you as my witnesses, I will never again step foot in a bass pro or Cabelas or spend a dime online. I admit I can be juvenile, but it is what it is. If this is the worst thing that happens to me this week, life is still good.

Thanks. I appreciate it. The Cabelas one would have been better for my particular needs. Love the .416. Lapua is Overkill for a lot of plains game obviously, but great round for eland, roan and sable with proper bullets. In fact, I have been keeping an eye open for that exact combo.

Thanks. No problem. I saw that too. Thing about the Cabelas one was I could have sold the scope for $1K(ish), pulled one of my Schmidt and Bender Exos out of the safe and been set with a heck of a package.

If that is the case, it's the BB (Big Boss) who needs the boot up the a*** for not training his staff properly; seen that before, and have been in a situation identical to that; put on the phone cold o take calls on a wide range of subjects; explained myself to customers, many of whom became good friends.
