Capercaillie?

Well. These things happen. If there was an NDA apparently wasn't worth very much. Ot more likely, a friend of the alleged victim dropped the dime. If you read the article, he has led, shall we say, an active romantic life. There is also apparently that whole fathering a child outside of marriage that so upset many on the right about Emhoff.

If the vetting comment is true, than I am a bit surprised the transition team doesn't have a bit more influence with Trump following some of his picks the first time around.

Hegseth was already facing meaningful headwinds.

Wrong thread?

Thanks folks! It sounds like one of those areas where lots of folks are interested in the hunt but very difficult to get solid outfitter recommendations.

Redleg ive read that report in the past actually doing some research , was very interesting!

If there’s any “I’ve hunted with X outfitter” it would be great to hear it

Isn’t that what @Redleg gave you?

Why not offer a hunt swap?

You don't really need an outfitter,it's not much more than walking in the forest until you flush one.

I don't hunt them myself,my ex used to help count the numbers of them. They are an impressive bird,I will give them that.

And in UK the status of capercaiile is severe , they are using waste money to trying to protect and build it up .
But shooting predators like Maren , fox etc in those areas is not allowed .

One could rather put the people behind that suggest alone on a deserted island and be left alone to go feral .

PM to you with some outfitter ideas.
Thanks bud, will have a look for it!

Yeah that was appreciated. Was hoping there would be a few more having hunted with various outfitters but I suspect probably a niche hunt!

It’s not a bad idea. To be honest I’d almost rather just pay an outfitter than to have to work out the logistics of a swap. It’s a level up from taking a friend out for a spiker or a few does

Fabulous hunt, and it had been a lifelong dream of mine. Martin Neuper of FN Hunting gets several permits each year. https://www.fnhunting.com/ Below is the hunt report. And yes, it was a dawn stalk which is the traditional way to hunt one of the big grouse. Most these days are taken with something like a .22HP from a blind. But, like you, I was interested in a traditional German/Austrian opportunity. Just a fabulous experience.

Also meant to say that’s a stunning mount. Quite different but very classy

Not in the Alps. Though, I'll freely admit I have never taken a stroll around the Scandinavian forests potting them as they flush.

Someone else that you can contact is Bob Kern's The Hunting Consortium https://huntingconsortium.com/about-us/. He has been sending American hunters around the world, to include every conceivable European hunting opportunity, for decades. I am certain he could arrange the hunt, and even set up the vacation end of it should you wish to do that.

Thomas Ekberg in the the movie , he is outfitter in Sweden and he can also arrange hunts of many kind in Sweden .

Hi Jay,

Hope you're well.

I'm headed your way in January.

Attending SHOT Show has been a long time bucket list item for me.

Finally made it happen and I'm headed to Vegas.

I know you're some distance from Vegas - but would be keen to catch up if it works out.

Have a good one.

Mark
