Carrying your rifle in the bush

Has that "safari" look...but it looks better then it uses in my opinion. Bites into shoulder if used for extensive hiking/walking etc. Ok for stabilizing but near as comfortable as quite a few others.

But then again if practicality and comfort were the only parameters, everybody would just take their favourite plastic rifle with stainless steel and be done.

Rifles are one thing...but items like boots, clothing, slings, packs etc etc are about function more so then looks where classic real deal older rifles were built for the job so they will always be the way to go! LOL!
My buddy has purchased three of the 3HGR slings after borrowing mine....first suffering with his for a few hunts! LOL! What ever makes a guy feel like the mighty hunter i guess....some dipsticks ive seen elk hunting look like they literally ordered the entire cabelas catalogue and took everything right out of the wrappers and put it all one and showed up in camp! LOL! Although you gotta start with new gear sometime...some gents over do it a bit. More time reading catalogues then out in the brush!

Binos single sling across right hand shoulder hanging on left hip. Easily tucked away out of place and quick into action. Chest carry on elastic harness types lika a "bra" dont work for me.....they always get in the way....getting low down is an issue....running is an issue.....I dont like issues when hunting.....

I am right handed and carried mine in a sling over my right shoulder. Rifle in my back, strap in front, with the barrel up. When I got into thick stuff or thought I was about to shoot, I carried it in my hands for more control. I carry this way hunting in the states so it was natural for me to continue the same habits in Africa.

Binos, however you wanna position them, in the high rack or cab of the truck. They’ll be there to look at critters when you get back.

If in thick brush I will not use the sling and if too thick will remove it. I like the muzzle down carry for some guns that ride better that way but you have to watch in brush if you’re bending over under limbs that you don’t stick the muzzle in the dirt. Never did it myself but saw that enough with others that I pay close attention to the possibility. I like barrel mounted swivels because, on my guns at least, they ride muzzle up very nice and I keep my hand on it to ensure that. I’ve been muzzled more by drooping slung rifles behind the person’s back than all other events. I hate African carry and the only times I’ve held my gun that way was for pictures.
One guy with a hunting show here blew a finger off carrying his exposed hammer muzzleloader that way through brush. Luck that was all that got hit.

I assume you are right handed, and as you had mentioned before, you like to carry the rifle on off hand side, barrel down, strap up front. Does the bino on your left hip then not interfere?

For me the harness worked quite well, if it is strapped up high and tight against my chest, that way they do not hang in the dirt when crawling. And due to the elasticity, when walking/running there is no hard tug at the neck each time (I have swaro's SLC 10x42). Anyway, thanks for the advise, I'll make sure to carry an additional regular strap with me, so I can change between the two setups (at camp) if the first one does not work out.

Yes I am.
10x42 are quite big and too m7ch for most of where I hunt.
I use 8x and they are rubberized. I either have them tucked just behind the rifle or just in front. If I need to move fast the rifle comes to my right hand left hand can then control binos
Works for me. Have seen some do it the other way around but I am use to and prefer my way around.
