Arriving on Delta flight to Johannesburg. Which motel would you choose , and is one safer than the other ? Will be picked up the next morning by outfitter .
I would need to know more information. How long is your layover? What is the next destination?
For a short layover City Lodge is my choice. It is attached to the airport. It is easy for me to navigate there with a large group of hunters.
If I have a long layover, like I did last year, I would consider Africa Sky.
Have a great safari!
What time does the Delta flight arrive in Johannesburg? I am heading up to vic falls for an Ele hunt and need to book a flight the next day up to zim? Just trying to get an idea of time line for the trip
Never stayed at City Lodge. For me, the only way I'd stay there, though, is if I had an early morning connecting flight on Airlink. My priority is not feeling rushed. Delta and UA generally arrive late in the evening, so an early connection would be less rushed at City Lodge. Africa Sky lets you stretch your legs, walk around a bit, and not be bothered by crowds.
Africa Sky is really nice, you get 3 meals/day included. The missus has a tough time traveling, so we stayed there 2 nights so she'd have her sea legs when the outfitter came to pick us up. It's a place to unwind. Grab your copy of The Green Hills of Africa and a libation, sit out by the pool under a bluebird sky, read and relax.
When the sun sets and the chill creeps in, set yourself down in front of a warm fire.
You'll get plenty of ambiance at camp, but nothing wrong with enjoying it while you're still in Jo'burg.
