Namibia, Canada,
Has anyone used Converse Chuck Taylors for hunting safari or have you ever seen a PH wear them? Thoughts on using them?

Ian Gibson always seemed to be wearing them when he on Tracks Across Africa.

I was fortunate enough to be in camp with Ian and he had them on then too I promise you. He said they were the best hunting boot made. :)

As long as the terrain you are hunting is easy, I can't see why you can't use them, or most other sports shoes....talking about a cross trainer! You could make a heck of a TV commercial!

They make a camo rubber one for 70 bucks may be worth trying

I've only had red ones. School colors, Jr. High Baby!!!:A Rock:

I don't see why not..... However, I think the better question would be.... Why? :LOL: LOL....

You absolutely need these type of shoes for hunting in the swamps...they won't get sucked off your feet. My PH recommended them for hunting the Zambezi Delta swamps. We also duct-taped our pants tight around them at the ankles. My PH wore them too.

Wow... that is interesting to know. Never thought of them for that. (y)

I can't imagine using tennis shoes in the rocky $%^&*#$ I hunted in, chasing those freaking mountain zebras.........

I wore ecco walking shoes on my elephant hunt. They are what I wore walking to get ready fir the hunt so I figured I would give them a try on the hunt! I'm glad I took them because they were so much more comfortable than the boots I bought a couple of years ago.

So I say why not wear the Converse?

Different terrain requires different gear. Soft soles will definitely give you blisters when walking over rocks for extended periods!

Ecco's are bad ass. I wear them for work & for golf. Great for bad backs. Speaking of Converse Chuck Taylor's..... Looks like my 8 yr old girl is ready to Safari!!!!!

A few years back my wife (then my girlfriend) got me a pair of Cabelas brand scent lock sneakers that were best described as scent reducing knock-off chucks. Water proof they were not, but in our early archery season here in PA, they were quiet and stealthy as you could ever want, and comfy to boot. Wouldn't have wanted to tackle heavy rocky terrain though.

OUCH!!!!!!!!!!!:barefoot::mad:

HI all, here is a Short update on our America trip, I currently in Houston and have 2 more meetings here before movings North toward Oklahoma, Missouri and Iowa, and from there I will head to Colorado and Idaho,I have been met with great hospitality and friendship, and have met several new and old clients and we are going to book the rest of 2025 season quick and have several dates booked for 2026!
That's a wrap, on our first hunt of this years season.

Hunting conditions are a bit tougher in South Africa during the month of February, but can be just as rewarding if done right.
