Coppersmith, trophy shippers, or other?

In the begin stages of planning my first safari. I'll be having clearance done in Chicago so I can pick up there. Who is your preferred trophy import broker?
I had a good experience with Coppersmith. Great communication.I would use them again.

Used Coppersmith more times than I can remember, never and issue and good communication!

If anybody in Pacific Northwest or Alaska need help.
Don has his own warehouse and gets your stuff out of Airline storage while awaiting inspections.
Also, he is well known at many of the Africa Taxidermy shops and doesn't let them get away with games.

Circling back to this. Just a couple months until my trip and time to make a decision. I was all about Coppersmith until my local taxidermist recommended D&L out of Chicago. I had never heard of them. Called to get some information and I was surprised to hear that they have a bonded wearhouse and are open 7 days a week. Does anyone have experience with D&L?

I'm not familiar with them. Are their fees lower than Coppersmith and are they experienced in bringing in your species? Only ask as delays get costly.

I used D&L back in 2015 for my 2014 safari, they were great and had no issues whatsoever. They were recommended by my Michigan based taxidermist.
I have since moved to Coppersmiths because I can pick up my crates at their warehouse in Atlanta.

Their fees are similar, but the 7 days a week helps with late week arrivals from sitting in the airport waiting on coppersmith to get back to work on Monday.

My species are plains game, no primate or swine. Should be simple.

Can I ask who your Michigan based taxidermist was? I'm here and just wondering if it's the same taxidermist I'm hiring.

I used both D&L and the wildlife gallery for my 2022 hunt and 2023 import and taxidermy. I was very pleased with both. Clear communication and they kept me informed throughout the entire process.

I have also used Coppersmiths in Atlanta several times, most recently this year for my 2023 safari trophies. I had those finished in RSA and just needed them cleared and shipped to me and since I live in Georgia, it made the most sense to use them.

If your planning on picking your trophies up in Chicago then I don’t think you’d be disappointed in D&L.

They do amazing work. Unfortunately I don't have the budget for them.

Although the fact The Wildlife Gallery recommended D&L tells me something.
I’m with you on that, they priced me out of using them for any higher volume safaris since about 2018. They were great though, delivered my mounts to my door and even put the trophies on the walls for me at least the ones I knew where they were going.
